  1. I would rather see the Blob's taint than lay eyes on that awful Elfquest art.
  2. I recently bought half-backs, which served to remind me of the time I bought them once before and the disappointment that ensued. Just spring for full-backs.
  3. Why not? Maybe the know-nothings are exactly the sort to do this.
  4. Last December, my wife and I withdrew money from one of our Roth accounts via the CARES Act, though not for comics. Considering the outrageous gains our investment accounts made over the months preceding our withdrawal, it was an easy call to address some home improvements before the pandemic winter landed. And considering the continued outrageous gains in the stock markets, we have no regrets in hindsight. We will repay the withdrawn amount well in advance of the three-year timeframe outlined in that CARES provision and avoid any penalties. As for the direct stimulus payments, my LCS picked up a nice collection of bronze keys a couple of months before everyone got their Biden Bucks. In the brief conversation I had with the owner, he said that they would sell when the next stimulus money landed, and he was right. They vanished almost overnight.
  5. Even more in love with Mignola's work after finishing this.
  6. Oh man, has this thread delivered or what? It's only fair that I share my experience. It's long and I don't want the mobile users out there to sprain their thumbs scrolling past my word wall.
  7. My sister and her husband got the best grandparenting years from our parents. My wife and I rarely request babysitting or such fun them. They just don't have it in them.
  8. I had my first and only kid two months before I turned 42. No way I'd recommend that. Definitely wish I'd had him sooner. Everything would be easier if we'd done that. At this point in my life, now 49, I want my limited time and energy back, not to mention money. At my current age, my parents had my sister and me in college. I'll be 60 when mine goes to college. Way better to start earlier.
  9. Time was a big factor for us. At one point, I was gunning for my black belt in TKD, working a side gig in addition to teaching (which did lead to my current job, so worth it) and buying and selling comics like crazy. Oh, and a baby. So yeah, that had to change.
  10. 😁 This was my wife's favorite entry. 👆 When I read her this one, she said, "Well, you all do that, right?" It didn't help that I couldn't keep a straight face while reading it.
  11. Vol. 3. Just masterful storytelling in the comic medium.
  12. Mike is a professional presser, and a good one imo. He receives packages daily, I would imagine.
  13. Agree with @ttfitzin that this doesn't hit the mark. And sorry for not being in the counting spirit. But I like sharing.
  14. The YouTube pundits are the worst. You see similar self-appointed technical analysts for cryptocurrency, and, I assume, other alt asset classes. They pull up some chart or table and proceed to b.s. elaborately. Bonus points for using a markup app to draw some lines on the screen.
  15. Reading Michael Allred books tuned me into the work of Nate Piekos of Blambot. If you're the sort of comic hobbyist who enjoys learning how different comic creators ply their trade, check out his site, https://blambot.com/. Some of the resource articles there really gave me a better understanding and appreciation of lettering. He has a guidebook coming out in October from Image Comics: https://imagecomics.com/press-releases/budding-comic-book-creatives-will-learn-tips-tricks-this-october-in-the-essential-guide-to-comic-book-lettering. So those of you who are already lettering fan aficionados, who are the important letterers in the past?
  16. My LCS had their first store variant, the Female Force: Dolly Parton. Living in Tennessee, it's not an exaggeration when people call her Saint Dolly.
  17. True burial vaults, treasures abound, King Tut would look like a pauper!
