Okay, first listing is up. A confluence of events, some long-term and some more immediate (I'm talking to you, pandemic), have taught me that I want a more constrained, curated life.
I think we collectors share something in common that can oft go overlooked. We have appetites. Strong appetites. We can gorge on one title with over 400 issues spanning the different era, or pursue a character or super-team across decades and titles that would exhaust even the deepest pockets. We build databases for our collections, web tools that preserve digital copies of comics up to 80 or more years old. We research archival solutions, teach ourselves amateur restor, uh I mean, dedicate a portion of our home and cash to it. I know many of you have other appetites, from cigars to wine to lurid accounts of moose copulation. For me, my appetite most expresses itself in collecting comics. But until all the kids starting playing the game I've worked on for the last three years, my wife finally earns a salary commensurate with her level of education, and, oh I dunno, the pandemic ends, things ain't gonna change for a while. So I want to tailor my appetite for comics and build a more curated and intentional collection.
So what does that mean for this thread? I guess we will see what I list. I'm working through boxes and updating a database in clz. Cheers, stay safe, mask up, yo.
