  3. Figured I’d buy the other copy the guy had for sale as well. @Iceman399#hoarderlife
  4. @The Metasuch a great cover. Fits well with the fact that this book has the honor of the containing the first cameo of Ripley in Dark Horse continuity.
  5. @The MetaI forgot to take a picture of DHP 56, hahahaha.
  6. 1988-1992 collection of the “big three” so far. Missing a couple books (Aliens 1 second and third print, Aliens 2 second print, Aliens 3 third print, Aliens 4 second print, Aliens 5 third print, Aliens Earth War 1 second print, Aliens Hive 2, 4 and Terminator One Shot).
  7. Current Goon collection. Albatross 1-4 and color special left to acquire.
  8. @wombatThose Blazing Combat mags are awesome!
  9. Hello Brian, My names John, I live in the Washington DC area, originally from Boston. The book that got me hooked on comics was the Punisher limited series #2 I got off the rack back in 1986. I was only 9 at the time and didn't jack for cash flow but I would use whatever money I got for chores and gifts to buy comics whenever I saw them. I took a long break around 1993 and got back into collecting around 2012. Initially my collecting was all over the place but over the years Im more focused now and don't try and chase the next hot thing. Welcome to the boards.
  10. Looks clean from here! I would definitely send it in. Don't crack it out of the case, let CGC do it.
  11. Im in that boat right now with some bronze age keys and minor keys.
  12. Its all about the long game. My brother is an accountant and kind of set me straight in regards to collecting. You cant look at individual items, look at it as a whole. If you're in the "black" you're doing fine. If you're at least able to make back the money you put into it then there is no loss. I was complaining to him about selling one of my TMNT #1 first prints too early. He asked if I made money, of course I did. That's when he told me to "shut the F up."
  13. "Better"...You spelled "ridiculous" wrong. Oh and that was my fault in regards to the addition of the later printings. I ruined everything. Maybe we should request a first print only registry set.
  14. I look at my registry sometimes and wonder "why did I do this to myself..." .
  15. @The MetaFor finding that in the wild at a con, thats pretty good.
  16. You bring up a couple of great points, especially pertaining to print runs. You figure when this series came out Dark Horse had only been around for two years. I imagine for a new company like a lot of the independents back in the day (Caliber, Mirage, Comico, etc.) they only printed what they thought would sell and Im sure licensing the rights to produce Aliens comics was not cheap. Having low print runs wasn't to manufacture rarity (opposite of today) but a decision made in the ways of fiscal responsibility. I wouldn't have guessed that the Dark Horse books would be speculated on. To me that would have been a big gamble, but I've been wrong many times, hahaha. Your theory is sound in my opinion. But for my sake lets hope that there are still some out there ready to be squished and slabbed.
  17. @F For Fakeis correct very, very difficult book to find in 9.8. Seems as though the follow up printings are easier to get in 9.8 than the first print. Last time I checked the census still showed 9.8's in the single digits; 8 universal and 1 lone signature series. I've had four opportunities to purchase a 9.8. Once from @Iceman399back in 2015, the last 2016 eBay auction, and twice in 2019 off comic link. I got smart after the first two times and bid on the comic link auctions, finally scoring mine in the fall of 2019 for $800. I still regret not buying multiple copies of this book when I had the chance. Not because of the prices but just the sheer difficulty of obtaining a copy. I guess I should stop complaining considering I have bigger fish to fry trying to get all prints in 9.8, hahahahaha. First world collectors problems. Maybe with this last auction more will be submitted or more will pop up. But I thought that as well in 2019 when one sold for over 1k on comic link. Who knows, stranger things have happened.
