  1. im curious if this is possible. a few months ago i sent my FF annual 2 in to be graded. came back a .5 missing pages 7 8 9 affects story. i knew they were missing but its the pinup pages .dosent affect story I assume but whatever. ok i have another copy . i check and 2 detached pages but i see no missing pages. pinups there. i send into CGC and i get alert its shipped back. also a .5 ok. i look and says same thing. missing pages 7 8 9 affects story. could my grader notes from previous grade accidently make its way by accident to this new one ? im almost positive those pages were there. i mean whats the odds, and only way i can prove it is by cracking the darn thing open. any thoughts. thanks.
  2. its shipping back. should be here in a week. these are the notes. Line Item: 004 Comic Description: Avengers 1 9/63 Marvel Comics Category: Universal Grader Notes: Grader Notes Grade: BRITTLE Comments: COVERLESS.
  3. thanks.i know what brittle is in reference to the paper but never saw that listed as the Grade. all the others on that submission say 4.5., 7.5, NG etc but this one list the grade as Brittle. anyway thanks.
  4. just curious , never saw this before. My son sent his coverless Avengers 1 in to be graded. just got alert it was done by CGC. i figured NG since coverless but under it grade it says BRITTLE. never saw that before. anyone know why thats under grade. thanks.
  5. thank you everyone. so no automatic.5 and should not say incomplete. all im looking for again thank you all.
  6. im torn ( no pun) i thought 2.0 yiu can have torn out pages as long as they are still in book. not missing.
  7. curious how this affects grade. got a copy of FF annual 2. books maybe a 2.5 . cover is small split but attached. 2 story pages are torn out but placed back in book so all pages just 2 were ripped out and places back , loose but again no missing pages. want to CGC and display with all my other CGCs i have on my comic wall in my man cave even though technically not something i would cgc but again its not to sell. its just for display. so dont kill me for wanting to cgc. because of the 2 torn out but there pages would it get the.5 garde automaticly like missing pages gets? thanks
  8. i see it now. and yes i sent in a few personal books i have had for years to display. these are not books to sell but i still don't like the notes saying affects story. but anyway thank you everyone. i appreciate the help and explanations.
  9. thank you very much. im still dont think pin up art of super villians between the 2 stories should be call missing pages affects story. it does not it shipping back to me now. this is what it says. Grader Notes:missing interior part/page/wrap page(s) 7, 8 & 9 affects story t.
  10. ok trying to understand something. assume ya'll can help. i sent in my FF annual 2 to CGC. just got the grade and it noted misssing pages 7-8-9 , affects story. i knew it was missing 6 pages . 13 to 28 which is pinup pages drawn by Kirby , not part of the story. again missing yes . so can i assume when they say missing pages 7 8 9 they are counting the pages as page 1&2 are 1 , pages 3 &4 are 2 etc. so when they say missing pages 7 8 9 they are talking pages 13 to 18? and if so why not just mention the real page numbers. someone seeing missing pages 7 8 9 would think its missing the best part of the story when Doom gets injured and blames Reed. and also my missing pinup pictures are yes missing pages but it should not say affects story. am i wrong ? just curious
  11. In my 20's my good friend whos still my friend but lives elsewhere in the US dated a stripper for a year. Was just like in the movies. He was always giving her money. Jealous all the time, mad about the stories of what she was doing in the private rooms snd ofcourse tried to get her to leave the profession multiple times. When the money stopped , she dumped him. Was for the better. Sorry to steer the story away from comics but had to add that tidbit.
  12. Thanks , guess i was wrong. I see flyers all the time "Cash for cars" "cash for gold". Etc and figured the same. When i was younger i had a friend of a friend who purchase cars , fixed them up and sold them cash only so he avoided big taxes. There was Always a scam and he did get into some issues with insurance scams i heard. Havent seen him in 30 years but a friend ran into him a few years ago at a diner and he was with his 3rd wife a stripper 30 years younger . Interesting life lol.
  13. Have a question since someone mentioned you still have to report cash sales.and before anyone jumps on me , i got paid by check and my sale was all by the book and my brother is a legit guy. Hes also buy the book. Again just a question i have. I always assumed that the reason that the buyers in comic book adds put we pay " cash" on the spot in there buying adds ( go to overstreet adds right now) was so you could decide not report it if you wanted to be like that. The place i sold mine to had that in there add " cash paid on the spot"but i never asked for cash and i got a paid by check.was i always wrong in ny thinking?
  14. Thanks everyone. Appreciate you all. Just want to understand how it all works. Learn something. And yes he will seek an accountant when the time is right. Thanks
  15. About 2 years ago yaall helped me with questions about selling my medium size collection. Was asking about tax issues of selling. Kind of got out of comics. Wife out of work. Needed money Was mostly bronze with value 24k and i got 50% value in a deal and had some decent paperwork for tax purposes. Now i collected back then with my older brother.now he collected silver and bronze . Alllot of the keys, xmen 1, AF 15, hulk 181 etc. These all absolutely blew up .2 yesrs ago it was probably worth less then half , books are mid grade. No high grade but all keys, , , i went to his house yesterday, looked at ebay sales and worth about 100k give or take . He has zero paperwork on purchases. No ebay , Was 25-35 yesrs ago most got at shows, mail order ,etc . Hes going to sell maybe to guy who got mine. Atleast thats the plan .Doubt any cash since were talking maybe a collection worth 100k and maybe getting 60k. I know accounting rules .(i was an accountant 15 years ago but bank accounting) 28% straight on profit of selling collectibles but what if you dont know what you paid? Or cant prove it. Is it then you would be taxed 28% on the full value ? So a $100k collection or even a $100k single comic book .you pay 28k in taxes? Or can you say maybe use what the fair market value is and use that for a loss? So sold for 60k but worth 100k so a loss? Just to add im just asking to see what anyone knows, opinions just for me, he is going to sit down with an accountant before he does anything and rightfully so. Not taking anyone opinion here as fact. Just curious And hes stand up guy.not trying to cheat on taxes . He also a banker in ny. Hes getting ready to retire in a year or so and move to another state . Figure he will sell by end if year. Or early next year so this isnt happening now. Any thoughts on selling a collection or even s single book for a large sum to a dealer at say 50% of what its worth (not selling to a customer at a profit) lets say 100k if you have no back up basis for cost? Also do dealers pay large sums in cash? Guy i got sold my books to was check only . Thanks
