  1. I'm perplexed at how this book has escalated in the last few years. In 2013, a CGC 9.4 was a $450-$500 book. In 2014, it was suddenly an $800 book. This year, there are two sales around $1100, and most recently at $1500.

All this with no external factors. It seems that it's risen in value purely for the classic cover and story. Truly an anomaly in an otherwise Hollywood-fueled hobby.

I believe it's due to the whole wave of collectors that entered the hobby. For the most part they value it equally to BA books like Batman 232, Iron Man 55, Green Lantern 76, etc..

It might also be in part that many don't see DC as having the best selection of Bronze key issues. So suddenly a cool BA, Adams book like this begins to gain even more momentum as prices continue to soar.

I've also heard a ton of people call it to be the "1st Modern Age Joker.."

  2. Honestly...I'm worried. :shy:

I'm worried they're going to pull a Spider-Man #3 and try to jam as much in and it waters down character/plot development. Punisher. Elektra. Gladiator. Bullseye? Kingpin?

If it was only going to be Elektra and Bullseye - but having too many characters that need air time to development raises concerns for me. I hope it's awesome and I'll absolutely be watching the first minute it's released, but too much of a good thing isn't always a good thing.

I haven't heard any confirmation about Bullseye or even who they've casted. Think about the characters they're replacing from season 1 though.

Gladiator and Kingpin were both in season 1.

Punisher and Elektra will be replacing two characters who got a lot of screen time and development.

    Wesley and Ben

  3. Two copies on sale from MyComicshop, compare them: on the left, the original, on the right the JC Penney reprint.

Aside from Alicia's different skin tone, if you look at the color blends on the ground (both on the Thing's side and on Alicia's) you’ll see that the old coloring system was "warmer" (done by hand) and the printing has "gaps" in the color ramps, due to printing limitations of the technology. The new computer colored version has smooth gradients, which also do not follow precisely the curve of the original blends, and probably the screen dots are smaller as the quality is better, as ental pointed out. All this is enough, without even looking at the super-white fresh paper.

They did a great job, anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to do that. I know the interior splash page has a spot where it says 2nd printing. This is great to know just in case someone is buying online without back cover scans available.

  4. From the coloring it’s not a reprint.

The JC Penney reprints, besides being on modern paper stock, have a faithfully rendered color scheme, but they are computer colored, easy to spot. :)

Thanks for the confirmation. The seller was so confident it was a reprint that I started to 2nd guess myself! lol

  5. It looks like Green Lantern #48 is picking up steam with the announcement of GL Corps.

All the copies under $10 appeared to have sold the day of the announcement on July 13th.

Since then, the book has been trending upwards and looks to hit the $20 mark very shortly. I'd expect asking prices on ebay to end up at the $40 mark in the next week or two.

  6. Cap # 109 is selling at above Overstreet, raw, in any grade.

Prices are scattered though but I think this book is a h'yuuuge sleeper, on the basis that it is Cap & Bucky's 1st fully detailed SA origin........with the last Cap movie hinting at Cap and the Winter Soldier's origin.....and the Winter Solidier starting to regain his memory, common sense indicates that the origin of cap/Bucky(Winter Solider) will be explored more in Civil War.....a bit of insight also reveals that this book will rise exponentially more, in relation to Avengers 4 and Cap 100, as the current sales on this book are muuuuuuch lower than Avengers 4 or Cap 100.

... ..here is a raw VG/FN that comics4less sold for $76 in December:

I have a raw FN (pressed) copy up now , read the auction description (and the 10 or so shots of interior story art) which show how under appreciated this book still is, regarding its' "silver age key" status.

Have a look at my description, I dare anyone to tell me I don't know how to artfully describe a book ;)

    Uh, okie.

  7. It would be a catastrophic mistake to use Miles Morales IMO.

Finally we get the amazing opportunity to see the Avengers stand side by side with Marvel's most iconic hero, and now we are forced to see the knock-off version that's only been popular for the past 2 years?

Woo-hoo! Sign me up for that!
