Agreed, but would you say the same about God Country and Redneck? I could make a case for either not being intriguing to the casual reader. I also don't think that is who has purchased either of those comics at above cover price.

God Country was only 15k with 2 covers from, as you mentioned, a more well known publisher. Don't get me wrong, there will be money to be made in the first week. But it will be all about timing and selling to other "speculators". Aftershock has not had many titles that have increased in value. Lately, World Reader and Pestilence, but only the variants. Regular covers aren't doing much. They had a Warren Ellis title that didn't do anything to my knowledge.

No, it means you were probably searching for books similar to those displayed. When I came into this thread I was looking up the Venom #150 Unknown Comics variant. It is an homage cover to ASM #316. You know what was displayed in my ebay ad? ASM #316.

It was only listed for about 6 minutes.

I see a lot of people talking about Baby Teeth. I'm going to steer clear of this one. Donny Cates is on most people's radar now and I think there will be plenty to go around.

Yea, win some, lose some. $900 on what original investment? I bet it was still a good margin. The thing with Preacher, or anything now for that matter, is that people are well aware of what COULD happen. So, when Preacher was announced as moving forward a 9.8 of the preview was near that $900 mark, IIRC.

I agree 100%. You can get a raw set of Strain #1's for like $30. Wasn't the variant in 9.8 going for about $200? In general, there are very few comics that have a huge spike and maintain that after a TV or movie release.

Walking Dead wasn't a hit out of the gate and now it's one of the biggest on cable.
