  1. Most sources point towards it being the Flash Thompson version, as its stand alone and they aren't going to do the Symbiote going from Peter to Venom origin. Who knows though, I doubt the public even knows there's more than 1 venom. Well, I'll just wander down to the shop and get the 1st Flash Thompson then.....
  2. Hope you already got your copies. X-Force #11 is popping at as high as $30.
  3. Yep... Was mentioned here... And then on a couple g+ pages... I'm not happy about it... One of the last ones I need, but I'll be damned if I'm paying 200 bucks for it... Yup, I had never seen it before this post.
  4. My shill sense is tingling on this one Current high has 2k+ rep. and 0% with seller.
  5. Hey, did this fall out of your gym bag? 1st appearance!.....on a t-shirt HOT! HTF! RARE! CGC IT!
  6. Exactly, so why take the chance on an auction? I think that people miss one good reason to BIN is that some buyers want it right away and don't want to play the auction waiting game. The Wolverine cover seems to be more popular too.
  7. A walk down Copper Age memory lane. I remember having that Hawk & Dove mini series. The artwork was actually not bad compared to the later New Mutants work. I forgot about this one. I know we've talked about this book before in other threads, but I'll state one more time that for all of the Liefeld gets, this book absolutely stood out on the racks when I was a kid, and I read it over and over again, simply because the art was new and exciting. Of course, even as a kid I realized that some of the anatomy was wonky (I think there's a DPS of the Hulk fighting Wendigo, and one of them has, like, an extra arm's worth of arm in their arm) but it was so dynamic and different, it really flipped my lid. I think Rob's early work, when tempered by a good inker, is still pretty fun stuff. Killer bullet holes. I'm not sure that gun fits into that holster though. Why would Wolverine need a gun? Because he needed pouches and I don't think he carriers bubble gum and loose change.
  8. I believe he is saying selling there is better than eBay.
  9. None of these are really $1 books anymore, although really I'm thinking of a bit higher grade. Particularly Batman, but Detective also, anything 75 cent cover price or earlier can do a bunch better if in nice shape (NM or better). On a lark I listed about 100 high grade Batmans and Detectives from the 80s and total "nothing" non-keys often fetched $5-$8, provided they were in nice shape, but I wasn't claiming strict 9.8, although 9.4-9.6 or 9.6/9.8 I guess it shouldn't be surprising that a 30 year old, high grade Batman title would sell for $12. But the cover stinks and Batman isn't the focus.
  10. Once again, it's not a first appearance. It's a new (and bad) costume.
  11. Yes, that Secret Wars is pretty sweet!
  12. Not really heating up, but I'm surprised to see people pay $12 for this. There is currently a VF+ at $8.50. Feels like a $1 book to me. Detective Comics #554
  13. Pretty good returns for a 1:75 Moon Knight #1 1:75 Sienkiewicz
  14. If you cut them off at the knees, you don't have to draw feet. Uncanny X-Force #1 1:50 Liefeld Variant
  15. Why? People pay more for JSC and Dell Otto is a better artist, IMO. Comic book prices are set by rarity and demand, etc, not by how good the art is. And I happen to think this book is wildly overpriced at prices of 1-2k. It's mostly speculators driving up prices on old X-23 books after Marvel made her "All-New Wolverine" recently. Um, demand can be set by good art. So, once again, why is it OK to pay $1-3k plus for a JSC book but not Dell Otto? I didn't say it's not ok, I was just stating my opinion that it's a silly price and that if you wait, you can get it cheaper. But by all means, go ahead if you think otherwise. It doesn't hurt me if you make the copy I own more valuable. If you wait, it may go down. But I think that's what a lot of people thought about the hard to find JSC books and look at them now.

  18. I'll keep sounding like a broken record, but these boards would be great if they had better moderators.
  19. Nope. I beat that "Best" mark by a lot by getting raws and submitting myself. OK, meet back here in 5 months and we will see what 9.8's are going for then. OK. I still got one for $50 raw, no matter what I'll be fine. Thanks for the concern though. 1. I wasn't concerned about you specifically. It was your statement about buying Deadpool books now, at the height. 2. Where are you going to get Deadpool #1 for $50 in NM+ or better condition now? It's been a $100 raw book for at least 6 months.
  20. Huh, can you show me any comic that has done that? Not sure if my wording is off, or if you are confused as to my point. I can't think of a single 1:1 variant that took off (a book with multiple covers that 1 cover took off simply because it was better than the rest). The variants that do take off are associated with manufactured rarity. There are all kinds of books that take off that don't have rarity simply because of their cover art. You asked to pose an example of a book that has increased in value over cover price and then took out all of the factors as to why books increase in price. A variant with a 1:1 that took off solely based on its cover. The reason most of these variants take off is because of the manufactured rarity behind it of being a 1:50, or 1:100. You said "...or some other determining factor." Which could be anything you wanted it to be, like a first appearance.
