  1. I noticed this too yesterday. I’ve always had around 14-16 members watching my gallery at any given time (I’m so popular). But when I noticed the function it said I had 51 members watching, then when I clicked on “Who’s watching” it said I had 71 members watching, complete with the date they started watching. Now today I’m back to 14. What gives? Was that a glitch or something?

But what is hate speech? Who are the people pushing that narrative, and how hateful and fascist are they themselves? And why are arguably more important whistleblowers in the news today being totally ignored by mainstream media, while this person is being pushed? And who really is this facebook whistleblower, and what is her past activism history?

Last I'll bother to say on the matter here, as we arent allowed to talk politics on the site.

Remember that foreign agents used Facebook to disseminate false information to interfere with our democratic process, and quite successfully I might add, in their favor. The whistleblower’s report also shows the negative impact IG has on adolescent girls. It’s not just about hate speech.

ComicLink is weird in that they indicate in advance when bidding starts but not when it ends.

How can I tell how long I have to break all my piggy banks ?

Aren’t their auctions like 30 days now? It’s pretty long.

Your collection is your own; your personal opinion is what matters. I have passed on pages with what I consider flaws, and bought pages because the “flaws” don’t bother me. The whole subject only matters if you think you might want to sell it later, in which case, pay attention to the artist and the title’s popularity.

There’s passing on just plain bad art especially from junk titles, and there’s a lot of that, and then there’s passing on so-so art from A-list artist and a-list titles. Had I bought them I would still have them, so it’s not about the money, but it sure would’ve been nice to know the art is worth multiples today! For sure I wish I was less an art critic that day and more of a shrewd collector, but it was my first year as a collector.

  5. I find it interesting that the last two posts dealt with lack of eye appeal (ghostlike outlines, paste-ups) as the motivator to sell or pass over, which resulted in regret. I have passed on art at great prices because the quality that you come to expect from the artist wasn’t there and boy do I regret it. Nowadays I’m more willing to overlook the flaws.

I see that it comes from Meier and Sons Gallery (famous here for their price hike on Spidey card art above) that have suddenly popped up on CAF spamming it with first edition books 😒

I suspect it’s Jim and not John wanting the price to be quiet.    What’s John supposed to do in that case?

Or the buyer.... who may want more Jim Lee art in the future.

The Torpedo press release thingy states that both identity and bid be kept private “at the buyer’s request.”

So for the love of Pete that fourth cover was a copy (all copies actually) because if ever there was a foreshadow of something bad happening with soup......

Even though I had a weird feeling of shenanigans  I still jumped and felt ill for about five seconds when John spilled the soup on the art. 😂

Not 😎 cool guys I’m too old for those gags. Every con there is at least one insufficiently_thoughtful_person with a big gulp looking through a portfolio. I have to walk away...

I cringed just watching Jim lay down the art bare on the counter. I have been many a times crushed ruining important papers with invisible condensation left behind by a cold drink. 😵💫

If had to pick that garbage from HA for 38k or this for $50k...had to pick one or the other for those values (with a gun to my head)...I'd grab this one before it hit the floor. It's...decent? lol

I was just telling a friend that I’m finally getting around to watching Iron Fist season 2 which has Typhoid Mary. Last week I was thinking, “Man, it’d be great to pick up a JRJr page with Typhoid Mary.” Cue lmao. Anywho, I’d choose this page over the other for the sexy TM shots.

xD hell maybe your were. It’s hard keeping up with the true nature of this unruly band of mischief makers!

I still can imagine a scenario in this greed is good investment banker approach to comic art acquisition where the ‘bad guy’ obtains them then does the unthinkable and breaks them up.

    Even if you were kidding.

I really was kidding and making merry mischief.

I guess it is possible that someone could break these up. I mean people cut trading card art right down the middle and sell it off that way.

Was this issue one big gatefold or were they separate connecting covers? I don’t remember.

I just started reviewing the prices tonight.  I think I have a good handle on the Alex Ross prices but almost $100,000 per cover for his treasuries really caught me off guard.  I am pretty sure this blows away the top prices of his other works and these are the highest prices his art ever sold for.

Yup, I’d like to think I follow the Alex Ross market pretty closely and I’m not aware of any public sales of Ross that even comes this close. The world’s most expensive head shots.
