  1. This is EPIC. I remember this went up for sale on the boards.. and it sold in like 2 days! Congrats on the great pick up!
  2. All are great, but especially like the Spiderman 68 panel page Thanks Greg!.. hangs right above my desk where I work 8 hrs a day. Never get tired of looking at it
  3. Not many choices this year.. had only 3 pieces to add.. a cover, an interior page and a cover recreation. Jack Kirby Super Powers (V1) #2 - Cover http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8570 Amazing Spider-Man #68 pg 18 - Interior page http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8571 Journey Into Mystery #83 - Cover Recreation http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8572 RickyB
  4. I found that strange as well. It was on Burkeys site for a bit and I was looking at it but it looked nothing like the published cover. So not sure how it's a recreation. Maybe reinterpretation?
  5. Good for you. And I don't think any collectors should be. I don't think the average collector has anything to worry about at all. I know the Kirby family loves the fans and wouldn't want to ruin that reputation. If they feel they need to get 10% of the 10% commission that was taken by the auction houses on the Kirby pieces, all the power to em. Prices will continue to go up.. no doubt on that.
  6. I have a friend who actually bought kirby pages out of the trunk of mark evaniers car as well I believe at a San Diego Con in the 70s. Jack wasnt signing art at the time because so much of it was stolen, but he ended up signing my friends pages because mark gave him the OK since they came from them. I was shocked when I heard the story, but apparently thats how it went back in the day. Should have asked for a receipt
  7. Don't think dealers or art owners have anything to worry about. They only went after 2 auction houses. And they are asking 10% of the commissions made. I don't imagine it will go beyond the 2 auction houses. Like Mitch said - he ain't worried and neither should any owner.
  8. Burkey put his Kirby art back up though ... NVM take that back.. looks like he took it down again.. most of it at least
  9. Burkey put his Kirby art back up though ...
  10. I'm surprised to see two Kirby pieces in the auction previews in light of what is going on behind the scenes with the Kirby estate and the prominent lawyer they hired. Tell us more From what I know Kirby Estate/Marvel going after 10% of all the money they made off Kirby stuff. I heard Comiclink paid up (which is why maybe no Kirby art in the last auction?) and Heritage is fighting it. Something like that.. if someone knows more please add
  11. Interesting. What percentage of those auction items sell, by meeting their reserve? Most? Also, does bidding start at the reserve price? Auction houses tend to refuse items if the seller asks for a reserve too high. If they have many items not sold at auction, it doesn't look good. Pedigree take note. +1 Any other auction house won't take items at ridiculous reserves, they will just say no. Why wouldn't anyone at Pedigree do a similar process? Lots of Coolines items + high reserves, how could have anyone taken this auction seriously. RickyB
  12. There is a Thor 287 page that was just posted on eBay.. http://ebay.to/2enNZ8J
  13. I was at that auction in 94. Gorgeous piece. Congrats! Wow.. thanks Bill! Can't believe you were actually there! Can't imagine what it would have been like to be at that auction. I was 10 and collecting Marvel cards
  14. Awesome piece! I hope you frame it ? Thanks Ankur!.. it's already framed..no time wasted and I have added additional images.
  15. Hey all, Picked up a JIM 83 recreation that was done by Kirby and Ayers back in 94 for the Sotheby's auction. The original owner who is a lawyer from Arizona and had owned it for almost 20 years. He just made a big purchase on a Killing Joke page and I guess it was the right time to ask him to part with this. Happy to be the new owner. Here is the link to CAF: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1350867 RickyB

  17. Hey guys, can I be part of this club? http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1350867
  18. According to Albert Moy....it belonged to Jim. Wow.. That's just awesome then..
  19. That cover got snagged pretty quick when it went up on Mikes site.. My wife and I both admire this cover very much. It is definitely a magnificent piece of art.. Congrats!
  20. Nice pick up Jeff.. Is that piece done in water color? Ricky
  21. Times sure do change fast in the Pre Robin Tec world. Just a year ago you could have snagged a 1.0 for 11k. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=607285 Yup.. That was mine.. Auctioned it right when Heritage ended a big auction. If I recall correctly .. Comic connect didn't even sent out a catalog
  22. Totally agree! Here is a perfect example of the black and white ... I would like to think at least.. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1231414&GSub=167429 That was a great buy! Zorro may not be a key Miller character, but it's a perfect example of his art from that period. Thanks man! Not his key character but I like the fact he did a whole bunch of Zorro references in DKR.. I think Miller in a way has always had love for Zorro.. But I don't think any good opportunities were presented during this time in his career except this cover. I also don't think Miller did any indie work during this time either which means he must have gone out of his way to do the piece.
