  1. I picked up the one in this picture from a boardie for a great price recently as a gift for the girlfriend. As you can see, she's a HUGE bat-fan. It's not 9.6/9.8 territory, but there's only a few small color breaks on it & she doesn't care that much. (yes, that is a batman dresser. no, I didn't buy it. It's her old dresser re-finished)
  2. I kinda dig Skottie Young. But I prefer his interiors over his covers. He did a New Warriors mini-series back before Civil War (the premise of which, they used as the impetus to Civil War) that I really enjoyed the work on. It was just fun. But his recent covers really appeal more to the kid or female audience. My one roomie loves his covers. She asks her shop to always pull them for her, even if she doesn't read that book. The cuteness factor seems to be the appeal.
  3. 3000 pages... that's either a sign of great detective work & the solid community values or a commentary on the number of scam artists in the comic buying/selling world. I guess it's a good thing overall though?
  4. I almost wanna just say "Shut it down. We hit the pinnacle of this club. Short of somebody busting out a pair of 9.9 or 10's, we won't get any better than this." but maybe we will. Or maybe somebody busts out another staircase full of GSXMs or 94's. Or both this time.
  5. This sounds like some gypsy stuff right here. I've seen a LOT of that in different places.
  6. You can't ban the Nature Boy! He's the stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun!
  7. dude... just... DUDE! Killer pair you got there
  8. Bobby's a good dude. Sold me some proofs because I love those old nostalgia things at a really reasonable price & was a great guy to deal with.
  9. Best of luck. Current TAT shows about the same as my 15-day + shipping.
  10. I'm assuming this is fasttrack? No, it's the Standard Submission (15-day). It was the Coupon. It's the one that normally runs $60 (before the 10% discount) but was the "you subscribed, here's 4 free submmissions" coupon.
  11. I think people were upset that Ellis only did the first 6 issues, although Brian Wood is no slouch either. I dropped it after issue 7. And only stayed on beyond 6 because I had pre-ordered it & didn't realize until after my order was no longer available to edit, that Ellis was only on for the first 6 issues. He's the only reason I had any interest in the book at all.
  12. I'll bet it's because most of the copies weren't distributed thru Diamond & went to bookstores or non-Diamond retailers? I'll lay money the print run was significantly higher than 7500. It's just that that's all that Diamond can report because they can't report what doesn't go thru them & into the direct market.

  14. One of the nicest dudes on here, an absolutely top-notch seller & just all-around good guy. His packing is excellent, his prices are spectacular & he's absolutely the kinda guy I'd wanna get a beer with at a con sometime.
  15. What's a "deadbeat" ? Is it a non-paying buyer? Please link to listing, thanks. That's a DeadBeet.
  16. class is totally overrated when the alternative is a box of free stuff...
  17. Thank you, but that's not exactly what I was asking. I know I can do it on the PDF. Can I only choose it if using the fillable PDF submission form or can I select it if I'm using the online submission form? Like, is it something I'd have to physically check off with a pen after printing the online submission form that I have to print anyway to go in with the submission? Thanks
  18. So the search function here is complete junk & I don't want to clutter the Ask CGC forum with a question about this & have been looking for about 20 minutes now, but I want to ask someone here: Is there something I'm missing for putting together my submission form online but selecting the "pre screen" option? I've got enough books to meet the minimum, but for some reason, I can't seem to find the "pre screen" option for the life of me. Or is this something that I add at the end once it shows that I have enough books to meet the minimum? Thanks in advance.
  19. I think I tried the first 3 issues of X-O and it wasn't bad, but I couldn't really get into it. I didn't read Solar though. And I thought Magnus was OK but not interesting enough for me to really get into it that hard. Then after missing a few issues here and there, I stopped caring at all & realized that I didn't miss them & that I didn't think they were all that great to try to get caught up.
  20. That Ellis stuff was great. I think you'll be in the majority there. Something made Stormwatch good? ?? ?? Ellis made Stormwatch into something amazing, morphed it into The Authority that served as a commentary on the Justice League (and simultaneously showing how the Avengers could become the JLA) & the idea of making the world a better place.
  21. Pre-Unity Valiants were NOT bad comics. No way, no how. Writing, artwork, universe-building...all excellent. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. They were not my bag at all. I thought they were derivative & poorly written junk with mediocre, though classic style, art & just pretty boring in general. You'll be agreeing to disagree with lots of people who know the pre-Unity Valiant books. I'll grant you (and have always said so) that later 1992 through 1994 Valiant books are both common and derivative, but the pre-Unity books (Valiant published before August 1992) were very good. Starting at about 1995, you might as well call them Image books. That was Acclaim's goal. I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about, but it's clear (over the past 20 years) that MOST people who don't like Valiant have never actually read the 50 books dated from 1991 through July 1992. I read them. I started with Harbinger #1 and read the first 4 or 5 issues of it (and a few others, though they all tend to bleed together in my head into a smog of "meh") and didn't really have any interest. It felt like they were trying to do something but nothing about it really was terribly good IMO. But hey, I've got no problem being in the minority opinion. I love virtually everything from the time Ellis took over Stormwatch that was published by Wildstorm until DC ****ed it all up. So I'm used to not being in the majority opinion on books.
