  1. What happens, I think, is: 1) They print millions. 2) After the initial hype, they become worthless. 3) People don't take care of them since they're worthless (ex. longboxes full of them, jostled around, getting bent, no boards, thrown out or given away, etc.) 4) The number of high grade copies decreases until those become more scarce. 5) When the demand for the issue starts rising, people realise that it's worth something. 6) The 3 milion high grade copies that once existed is down to 800,000 high grade copies. Although the remaining good copies of the comic still exist in huge numbers, a lot of the extreme excess that speculators bought (ex. 100+ copies per person) has effectively been ruined. Great analysis. And..I think that all combines with 'pump and dump' sales to create panic buyers.
  2. Great list! Add: Showcase 17 -- Mystery in Space 53 Showcase 30 -- Aquaman 1 Thanks for compiling this. Very good point and definitely adds to the relative difficulty for 'completists.'
  3. Its awesome. Glad to hear you weathered the ebay scam storm!
  4. VERY true--which is why TV is good for characters like Green Arrow and DD--don't need the huge crazy effects to pull it off, AND, the bonus is that with a TV show you get 16 or 20 or however many hours of that character with a season as opposed to only 2 hours with a movie. This is how I consoled myself with the news that Arrow would not be part of JLA/DC cinematic universe.
  5. This is very telling--but how many DC collections might be coming out of closets with rising prices given JLA/DC film universe....
  6. Flawless transaction here! Fast shipping great packaging, beautiful book. Thanks!
  7. STUNNING! Anyone would be hardpressed to find a better presenting for the grade. Congrats
  8. Should've pulled the trigger on this years ago. I really think Doc Strange will be much more household name status--the Tony Stark of the next round of MCU, and then the masses will know what the hardcore fans have known all along
  9. Bought a beautiful ASM slab from Brock--couldn't be happier. Fast shipping, very safely packed. Outstanding transaction.
  10. I would say the 4.0 underperformed a bit because of the marvel chipping on the top and right edge. That seems to be the single biggest price detractor for these in grade nowadays. Though not always. But wow over 66k for the 7.5. The most interesting result may be the nearly 3900 for that very, very well loved 0.5. Amazing indeed. -J. I think the 4.0 might've been affected also by the paper loss area under spidey's arm--aka the stan signature sweetspot Maybe somebody decided to scrape off his signature. -J. I feel like I lobbed that one up there and you crushed it
  11. Very nice. And considering that maybe less than 10% of BB28s have OW or better PQ that makes it even sweeter Beautiful book! Alas, my 6.0 is LT/OW but I'm just happy to have one at all!

  13. Thank you for this thread! Trying to get my sea legs here and this is a tremendous help!
  14. Hi everyone-- I'm Andy from Chicagoland. I am a lover of (almost) all things silver age, which is my primary focus. I do dabble in modern and some original comic art also. I'm a regular attendee at Midwest shows and I'm sure I've met many of you. Very new to the message board thing. I've been hooked on comics since buying my first comic off the spinner rack at the local Jewel (Amazing Spiderman #304!). Look forward to talking/laughing/interacting with you all. Thanks
