I've been buying from Cadence since 2018...I've never had an issue with getting art.  But delays are a part of the hobby.

If you are waiting on art, keep in mind that they were handling commissions for their artist at back to back cons the last 30 days (SDCC and GalaxyCon Raleigh).  All the art is coming out slow this month from ALL the reps with huge commission list being fulfilled.  I've learned that this is a hobby that requires patients as reps have to wrangle artist and take lists from buyers during busy con seasons...all while traveling themselves.  Cadence had a big roster at GalaxyCon this past weekend and may just be getting back.

I understand and completely agree, I just find it strange that they don’t appear to have an employee that monitors or hell evenly occasionally checks their email box. It’s still a business after all.

I don’t mind waiting for good art, I just find this practice a little baffling. You purchase something and a month goes by without it arriving or without any communication or a response to my inquiry. I would be nervous if that happened with any company I am purchasing an item from art aside.

  2. Boy, I am so happy I found this thread! I had never ordered from Cadence before but been on their site a bunch over the years. On the latest Tula Lotay art drop I snagged a great piece and got the PayPal link 20 mins later. Paid it and got my invoice. That was on July 16th.

I realize that’s only 3 weeks ago, but the radio silence after the purchase is luckily not something I’ve ever experienced with an art dealer (for published work at least, commissions in a different story). I assumed art was in hand and would ship soon. I now know thanks to this thread that they may not physically have it. After the two week mark I thought it would be ok to inquire what their general turnaround time for shipping was and of course got no response.

The consensus seems to be that I shouldn’t be concerned since in almost every example here the art did eventually arrive. I just think a little communication would go a long way. It’s not cool to plop down a lot of money for something and then it immediately goes into some kind of nebulous grey area.

  3. Hey everyone - I recently took a gamble with Tula Lotay’s bookplate offering in conjunction with her new art book. Half were of Tillie (an aviatrix) from her book Barnstormers with Scott Snyder and the other half were nudes. I was hoping for a Tillie, but got a nude. If anyone has a Tillie (or something similar of hers) and is willing to trade, please let me know.

    Thanks!

  4. Typically, I will purchase art directly from a dealer or the artist themselves. I was wondering though if it's frowned upon to contact a dealer like Albert Moy about an artist they sell work from occasionally but do not represent and ask if they are able to obtain more from a certain series or art with a certain character? Is that considered obnoxious? I don't want to overstep my boundaries...

  5. Hey everyone - I'm in the market for some Tula Lotay art. I'm interested in looking at whatever you got! (Commissions, prelims, sketches, covers, pages etc.) I'm aware of what's available publicly through her Rep at Cadence and all the typical sources. If you have anything that fits that bill that you're willing to part with, please feel free to respond to this thread or send me a PM.

    Thanks so much

    -Matt

  6. Hey everyone - I'm in the market for Steve Rude interior pages from any of his Superman titles, Captain America: What Price Glory or Thor: Godstorm featuring the title hero in costume. Thanks so much

  7. Hello there, I'm looking to acquire some Jim Silke art. My goal is interiors, particularly from Rascals in Paradise (a nice pulpy adventure page would be ideal) but I'm wiling to look at whatever you got! I've seen what's available publicly through the all the traditional sites/sellers/auctions etc. If you have something you're interested in selling please feel free to respond to this thread or send me a private message.

    Thanks so much

  8. Hey folks - I'm looking for some glorious Al Williamson strip art from Secret Agent Corrigan (X-9) or Alex Raymond strip art for Rip Kirby (just like the title says!). I've seen what's available publicly through the all the traditional sites/sellers/auctions etc. Lots of cool stuff, but none are exactly what I'm looking for. If you have something you're interested in selling please feel free to respond to this thread or send me a private message.

    Thanks!

There is also a smaller (16" x 5") Al Williamson Flash Gordon print which is titled "At the City in Ruins".  This was apparently issued in the late 1970s by Rosebud Productions, based upon Williamson's line art from the 1950s.  There are signed and numbered versions in black and white (in an edition of 100) and color (hand-colored by Williamson; in an edition of 50).  Here is the colored version (#4/50).

Yes! Astonishingly, I recently grabbed the black and white print of this on ebay for $9! It's my least favorite of the three, but still a delight to look at. I found out recently that Albert Moy owns the original art in his personal collection. I certainly wouldn't turn down a colored version if anyone has one for sale. :)

Thanks so much for responding! I had run across those, but was hoping to find the one for cheaper and the full (non cropped) version of the other, but it's always good to have a safety net :)

  11. Hi there - I'm looking for Al Williamson Flash Gordon prints, particularly those put out by the NCS Portfolio of fine comic art. Either in the original black and white or the hand colored variants that exist. For the Space Soldiers one, I am only interested in the full length print, not the truncated/cropped one.

Please feel free to comment on this thread or reach out to me directly.

    Thanks so much!

  12. Hey guys - I'm looking for original art examples from Steve Rude from his:

    • Any of his Superman work (particularly Superman Vs. Hulk, but also World's Finest miniseries, Adventures Of Superman #17, Legends of the DC Universe #14)
    • Thor miniseries
    • Captain America miniseries

Preferably with the titular character in costume

I believe I’ve seen all of what’s publicly available through all the usual sites. If you’re interested, please feel free to respond to the thread or DM me.

    As always, MANY thanks!

Tom Lovell is a recent discovery for me and I can't get enough of his work.  Just outstanding!  :cloud9:

Lovell is AMAZING. His is one of the only Illustrated Press books that I backed on Kickstarter so I could be positive I'd secure a copy. An underappreciated master in my opinion.

  14. Slightly off topic, so if this violates the rules the mods can feel free to delete. Does anyone have any leads on where to currently find the great Illustrated Press books on Coby Whitmore, Jon Whitcomb or Haddon Sundblom? All the usual places no longer carry them. Is anyone here looking to sell their copies? Feel free to respond here or send me a private message. Thank you so much!

  15. Quick Heritage question for you all. I'm not sure they do this with the comic OA (or at least the ones I'm looking at) but for some of the Men's Adventure Magazine art or Illustration art I've looked at why do some of the pieces start off with an inaugural baseline bid from Heritage? If they estimate something at the $2,000-$3,000 range the auction will roll out with the piece already at $1,000 before someone actually bid on it.  Maybe that's sour grapes on my end just looking for a deal, but it seems kind of crazy and a bit unfair to the potential bidder...

  16. Hey everybody - I'm looking for some Darwyn Cooke or Bruce Timm art (art examples attached) I'm open to sketches, commissions, headshots, full figures, black and white, colored, prelims, interiors etc. Whatever you got, feel free to send my way!

I believe I’ve seen all of what’s publicly available through the usual sites. If you’re interested, please feel free to respond to the thread or DM me.

    As always, many, many thanks!
