  2. Color breaking creases top, color breaking creases right, multiple small tears top, multiple tears right, moderate impact to spine corners top/bottom, multiple moderate color breaking creases spine, at least one rusted staple. 4.5-5.0 for me. I would absolutely walk away from grading. A Mylar and board would be a good home for this one!

  3. No sure if this will be of any help...

I've had two issues buying books on ebay. The first was a book I suspected of being trimmed. I contacted the seller and explained the situation.  He asked for pictures. I provided many... some with a ruler showing the issues. They agreed with my assessment and offered a substantial partial refund. I accepted. Considering the cost of return shipping, I feel we both made out ok.

The second was a low grade book that featured a relatively complete narrative of visible defects. Of course there were the infamous "I am not a pro grader" and the "look at the pictures and judge for yourself" clauses, followed by the assertion "I believe this book is an estimated grade of 2.0". I paid a premium for the book even at 2.0, banking on the improvements that I felt were possible with CPR. Upon receiving the book, I found interior water staining that was not disclosed or included in the pictures. I contacted the seller and again sent pictures of the defect. The seller admitted he missed the defect and immediately suggested a mutually beneficial partial refund. I did tell him I wanted the book. He offered a low initial refund amount and I countered much higher. We met some where in the middle. We both lost a little...and gained a little, but came out ok in the end.

    Just a thought...

If I were selling a book that had been pressed, I don't see any reason why I would tell you (even if you did ask).

It is.  I'm not interested in the bs that other people might be.
Having a book pressed is no different than having it in a bag and board.  It's just another manner of preserving it.

    Wow...

Will update when the books move.

Modern Fast Track went to "Grading/Quality Control" today 6/14. That's 15 business days not counting Memorial Day. :headbang:

Standard Tier still at "Scheduled for Grading".

  6. Derek sold me a kick :censored: book at a great price and worked with me to make it happen. This guy is 100%! The deal went down smooth as silk. Packaging was bomb-proof and shipping was lightning quick. I vote Derek for boardie of the year!

My convention sub never said received, although I have seen others posts that say dealer accounts still see the received status.

So, I guess maybe this is a better way to explain it and maybe I was assuming. It seems that if you submit online, no "received". But, if you fill out a paper submission form "received" status can occur.

Yes, several months ago CGC redesigned the online portal. There was quite a bit of discussion about the redesign here on the boards with everyone agreeing it was worse that before. It doesn't view well on smart phones and smaller tablets. But the worst is what you noted. CGC eliminated a couple of previous report points on the progress of our books. Now there is only  scheduled for grading, grading/QC and shipped/finalized.  We've lost the received, verified and grading points.  So basically the redesign gives customers less information, less convenience.

We still have "received".  My books have been sitting at received for 11 weeks now, waiting for CCS to press them.

Yes, I recently learned that "received" still applies to con submissions and apparently CCS as well. Shipped books move straight to "scheduled for grading".

Being your first submission, were the grades lower, higher or about what you expected?

If they are, then he'd better create a new thread :censored:ing about it, and proclaiming that he's "never submitting again!"

    Isn't that...
