much more work to do -

most marvel bronze and early copper

was supposed to be a 300 book collection - looks to be 500+

  2. Soooooooo, now we have CLODs? (shrug)

well - I will fully admit to CLOD status on that particular book - as I did not notice the trimming......

    :sorry:

I think that CGC was trying to get more definition to the whole restoration and conservation scales - but really - think that they may just end up confusing things a lot with the multiple letters and numbers that they can assign.

Any trimming gets "C" level (poor restoration) - which really - once it is trimmed - is there even a 1-2-3 difference anymore?

I re-read the article above. The "C" you are referring to has nothing to do with conservation - trimmed books will still be PLODS.

I like the idea of the new Conserved Grade, but I think it should be yet a different color. :)

I do agree with the conserved grade thing too - to me there is a huge difference in PLOD for trimming - and a good real restoration job by a professional.

At least now I have a good reference copy of what NOT to submit (as if that makes it better, lol)

  4. Perhaps this has been dealt with elsewhere but . . . is CGC introducing new categories for graded books? Beyond Universal, Restored, and Qualified?

I looked at an order of mine that has the status "Graded" online and along with the many books where Category = Universal, there are a few where Category = C-1.

    What the heck is C-1?

    Thanks,

    C.

Check the "pedigree" tab - they sometimes write the reason in there.

Have one lot waiting for slabbing - listed as C1 - TRIMMED (UGH) -

    C = poor restoration - the 1 is slight.

though once you are hit with the trimmed label - not really slight anything......

  5. I dont really consider that place a traditional flea market, because these people rent and operate small individual booths and mostly sell a bunch of wholesale stuff like Rebel Flag shirts, belts, beach towels, As Seen on TV stuff, ect. When I think of Flea market I am thinking of people bringing their stuff from home, renting a table, and selling their used stuff. These people sell wholesale stuff everyday for a living.

No, it was the Myrtle Beach Flea Market just past the 17 Business entrance to Market Common.

The North Myrtle indoor market has NOTHING of significance in it. Neither does the outdoor market in Little River. Might have to drive down to MB and check that place out. Pretty sure last time I was down there that place wasn't a flea market.

Wolf's Flea market in Palatine Il is this exact set-up. Aisles upon aisles of basically garbage, vendors offering haircuts, shelves of old CD's, DVD's, VHS tapes.....

the one in the old menards? - last time i was there they had 2 places to look - one guy near the concessions stand with some ok stuff - but he priced everything at "overstreet" with the whopping great deal of 30% off....... - course he was using the HIGHEST overstreet price even though the majority of his books were nowhere near mint.

Other guy was in the back right corner. Boxes and boxes of 1990+ books. Probably some worrthwhile stuff - but I did not have time to go through much. No idea what he was charging either.

  6. This is awesome. The link to the consignment request is great. I would've never seen it otherwise.

I'll ask, like others have, what services do you provide for your 20%?

okay well I'm new to comics but here is what I provide for the 20%

-I will sell it on alternative websites with no commissions on them like kijiji or craigslist

-If I can't sell it for the price you want I will ship it to you at my cost

    - I offer payment options of paypal, check, concealed cash and money order

that's all I can think of because like everyone else says I'm just starting out!

How is this any different than what people could do themselves?

You really are trying to sell this service to the exact wrong audience. This board is filled with high level buyers, sellers and dealers - that do this on a regular basis on their own.

If you want to consign things - you need to go local - find friends and contacts that really do not want to be bothered with trying to move their old comics.

  7. coupon submission 4 books standard -

    received/verified 4/3

4/25 changed to scheduled for grading

    4/29 graded -

Unless they slab and ship quick (doubtful) - going to be running past the 20 day mark for a coupon submission.

Real shame that it looks like fast track is now required for them to hit the "standard" lead times for any grade.
