  1. I traded Karl for a great silver age book that arrived well packaged and quickly. The book was a CGC copy and came in a perfect case and such a great book. I would definitely buy from, sell, or trade with Karl anytime hopefully sooner than later. Happy hunting, John
  2. I have a question, why are you so eager to stay here? Money and cool books. So many here have given up every ounce of integrity or sense of decency in the pursuit of both. It is shameful and embarrassing but hey, at least some despicable people can have friends on the internets because they sell cool books. Not really a community I am feeling I want to be associated with all that much and that is sad. I agree, but I like to think the majority of the community feels the same way and will continue to let a good deal pass by before giving up their integrity. You've only been here a year, give it time. true dat! there is no shortage of modern variant collectors that will line up to buy from Symbiotic via PM even if he declared "I am done". Heck they have no problem buying from him openly if he starts a sale thread right now. The mantra here is "hey, as long as you haven't screw me, you are COOL...with me...so screw someone else and I am fine" Unfortunately, I have seen this far too many times. I remember I had been complaining to a friend of mine about the latest hot deal I had lost to someone else, and I had finished up by saying something like "well, you know, I got over it, I realized I could live without it", and he just looked at me and laughed and said quite correctly "you can live without any of it". I'll always love him for that clarity. I know business has always been business, buy cheap and sell dear, as they used to say, but I do think that with all the variants, exclusives, limited editions, sketch covers and generally all the artificial production of scarcity that defines today's market, it has encouraged the grasping profit seeking as a kind of game. The production of artificial scarcity, there is probably a better way to put it, but for me that has brought out some of the worst features of the market place. Very well said, and I agree. I responded to someone last night that I think Spider-Man #1 may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, or literally busts this bubble. How in the world did Marvel not learn from the X-Force/X-Men glut of the early 90's It's seems an endless cycle from Anthropomorphic B&W tutlesesque, to X-Men/X-Force polybagged multiple copy, to Semi-Porn female pin-up cover girls, to sketcharo New 52, Image #1 next WD, and I am sure there were many before, some I missed, with more to come. Read and collect what you like and enjoy. The rewards will come, sometimes that even includes money.
  3. The outcome doesn't indicate he was pushing for an "extra $10" That's true, but how am I supposed to guess that? We did a little back and forth. He said he might hold onto it to take pictures, but an hour later the thread is still open so I make a solid offer. Thread still open, he thinks it might be too low, thinks he is going to hold onto it. Hours later thread still open I reply in PM and on the public thread that I will take it for the full price he was asking. If he wanted to keep it why keep the thread open? Maybe it was an oversight I don't know and really don't care at this point. He's not selling me the book. I need to work on some trades, and be happy with the one thing that worked out this week my freshly opened Doom Patrol #99.
  4. Why would you read a private message from a seller that says "I'm going to hold on to it" and then go to the public thread and place a "takeit" in a thread that went a full week without any activity? Why didn't you offer the full price privately? I did. Ok I'll take it for $110. I'm not sure what that proved, was that in the PM? I never saw that posted if that was just your response to not comprehending a "no" in the public thread (I saw that) You're obviously communication challenged - I disagree with your nomination*. *For clarity, for you, that means the reasoning you've presented here that I've seen doesn't appear to warrant adding the nominee to the PL list. I can repost the PMs if you would like. Yes that was in a PM. There was NEVER a no in the public thread, not sure what you are not comprehending or reading, but if he had said No I am more than capable of comprehending that. Perhaps start at the beginning or if you would like I will repost the entire PM history as well as the public thread.
  5. Why would you read a private message from a seller that says "I'm going to hold on to it" and then go to the public thread and place a "takeit" in a thread that went a full week without any activity? Why didn't you offer the full price privately? I did. Ok I'll take it for $110. And there was at least mine and a few others PM activity from the date of the last post on the public thread. Again to me, think I'm just going to hold onto it in context with his previous PM response was him bartering. I responded in PM and on the public thread that I would take the book for his full asking price.

  7. Look again at the pm I said it was too low at the asking price and was holding on to it And he still goes for it Like I said that could be considered strike worthy since I didn't take it off the boards before I posted it somewhere else. That's my bad I told him no at that price and he still insists on going for it. I realize I was giving the book away at that price that's why I didn't take any of his offers when he PMED me. Is the price difference between $110 (your listed board price) & the price you'll get on Ebay worth never selling on here again? I think you need to ask yourself that question. If you really want to put me on the probation list or hos for not taking a book down after I told him on than by all means do it When you tell somebody no it should be enough. All I'm guilty of is telling him no and not taking the book down right after then looking at Colombia comics eBay and selling what he had it listed for and how many offers he was getting So I listed my copy. Had I taken the book down I'm sure he would still say I sold it to him in that pm because I said no and he still said he would take it at $110 he knew I said no I wanted to keep it and he still went for it. Do what you have to do. Nothing else I can say There's a lot of open sales threads out there Justin. I mean a LOT. xxx ooo Rupp So what do you suggest? Check the time stamp of the seller's PM telling the purchaser "no" based on the placed in the thread. xxx ooo Rupp The issue to me if you read the PM is he never said no. I consider that a bartering method or tool. This was in response to my $100 offer. Already had someone offer that. It might be priced low at $110 Think I'm just going to hold on to it Thanks tho Where does he say no, or it's not for sale? So to me I gave in and took it for the price he was asking. If you read the prior PM he was used similar wording about maybe keeping it until he took pictures, yet it stayed up for sale and he obviously received an offer for $100 which he refers to in the PM above.

  9. I wish to nominate oceanavekid to the probation thread/list I don't know who has access to PM messages but I have no problem copying or opening them up for full disclosure. My take on this is he was pushing for the extra $10 on the book, after my offer of $100. I thought that was fair based on his asking price. After looking at some past sales and some other threads I fell asleep. When I woke up I was like f it what's $10 this is something on my list of wants and if it's not a newsstand copy it's still a pretty good deal. I did edit my I'll take it post after the fact to include the shipping included part. If a seller doesn't want to sell something virtually or real world they can say it's not for sale any longer. Not I think this or may that.
  10. To be fair, he did say in PM he thought the book was underpriced and he thought he may keep it. I got caught up in some other things, and then fell asleep, woke up and sent a PM agreeing to what he was asking for the book ($10 more than offered) in a PM and posted I'll take it in his open, and still open listing/board post. To me if he was keeping it to sell on Ebay he should have closed it and/or responded to my PM. I don't know it's been a frustrating week but tomorrow is another day.
  11. have you sent a msg through ebay as that will go to their email where here it may not. Yes I tried to make an offer for the same amount he had on here with a note saying I think I already bought this on CGC boards from you with his sn here. The bid was auto rejected so I sent him a message, with no response.
  12. Thanks for your input. I have sent pm to first seller trying to find out what's going on, but really what's going on is he is asking for 2x the $ on Ebay a day after PM discussions on the book, so I'm not really sure what response I'm going to get.
  13. Second seller, yes my latest PM remains unread.
  14. Second seller's last comment on that board appears to be 4/21 my post was 4/23.

  17. Hi, still a bit of a newbie here so I am not sure if I am asking in the right place. I agreed to take a book on a sellers post which is still open as of me writing this. We exchanged PM messages because the seller stated they were open to offers. The seller stated they already had an offer at the price I gave and thought the book might be priced too low and they were thinking about keeping it. I took that as a typical bartering method and said ok I'll take it for the price you are asking in the post. I then placed an I'll take it in the post. I have had no response and low and behold the seller has listed it on Ebay with the listing on here still open. What is the policy on this? Another situation is I again have placed an I'll take it on a sellers post. I have PM and bumped the post asking about sending payment. No response and other members have stated they have no response also. Hopefully nothing serious has happened, but how long should I wait?
