  1. Some unevenness in the pacing of the movie when it switched from Magneto's tragic storyline to some of the action scenes. Overall, I give it 7.5 out of 10. Thought they used too much CGI as I had just re-watched Mad Max: Fury Road on dvd in which George Miller mainly used real cars, trucks, stunt people and acrobats in (thumbs u his chase scenes.

Don't think Jubilee spoke more than 1 line. Was she supposed to be chewing gum all the time? Don't even remember seeing Rogue. Young Jean Grey and Quicksilver scenes were well played.

Movie still made sense by releasing Weapon X but it would have been a VERY long 1980s helicopter ride by Stryker to get from USA to AB, Canada thus lapse in logic. Perhaps astral plane battle is prelude of CGI for Dr Strange movie in Nov, 2016? Can't wait for Dr Strange movie with Cumberbatch, the Ancient One, Mordo, Brother Voodoo, etc. <3

  2. Is there anyone else doing a price guide news mag like wizard used to have? Seems like nobody exists in that market space.

Do you mean put out a magazine to hype the new book market by trying to set prices in the marketplace instead of reporting on prices?

Especially when they were caught with their pants down on several occasions with supposedly "hot books" on their Top 10 List guiding at double digit prices, when in fact they had not yet even been released due to publishing delays. doh!

I remember walking behind Jim Shooter and Chuck R at SDCC when Shooter was advising Rozanski to order an extra long box of Solar #10 black cover because "it was absolutely guaranteed to go up in the Wizard." It was the golden triangle of pump and dump:

Shooter/Valiant Comics, and biggest brick n mortar USA franchise Mile High Comics for pre-orders, and biggest mail order shipper for 1 week doh! old 'collectible' back issues/monthly Wizard hype mag. If a comicon flipper ran short, you could also reorder from Greg Buls.

  3. Haunted Mansion really picking up with issue 2 coming out, wish I had bought more of these

    Haunted Mansion Sold

And it has a really really really small print run

Is this any different than what happened with Figment?

I think it's actually got more legs than Figment, but it's no different than any other comic that gets hot with a smallish print run, sells out and people want it.

Or people are made to think they want it... :makepoint:

The Slave Labor Graphics The Haunted Mansion title from 2005 had some terrific covers. I particularly like the cover on issue #6, although they are all good covers.

I wonder if those will see any movement. Talk about small print run.

The cover to Slave Labor's Haunted Mansion #7 (2006, scarce last issue) looks like Marvel/Disney's cover to new #1.

  4. Watched Expanse to episode 6 so far. I would rank tv sci-fi series as:

    1. Dark Matter: more hand to hand combat action than Expanse

    2. The Expanse

    3. The 100: disjointed Season 3 episode 1 that I downloaded.

  5. How about a Steve Donnelly podcast? hm

I think the Donnelly's podcast would have to be a 2 parter, as they were 1 of the earliest OA mail order (San Mateo?) vendors with a full page ad in Overstreet. Collectors always complained about their aggressive prices but perhaps they were always 3 years ahead of the curve. :o

Outstanding podcast #2 and the Youtube link just brought both (thumbs u up to Cgc 10.0 gem mint of enjoyment.

  6. Felix,

Very interesting interview and future perspective on OA with Albert. We were both teens when I wholesaled 14 John Byrne OA pages to him circa 1983. :preach:

I remember the Frank Miller Dark Knight OA pages being sold at SDCC with at the time krack-head asking prices (panel pages for $350-400), splashes for $800-900. Was double the market value of Miller DD pages at the time, and I thought the inking needed to be tighter over Miller's pencils on Dark Knight series 1 so I passed on the splash. doh!

  7. Saw all 13 episodes over 3 days. Overall, I still like JJ more than Netflix's DD because I could not make sense of the Alias #1, 5, 6 comics that I tried to read. Advantage of DD is that fans are so happy to see Miller's well known (and well read) story arc on the tv screen and hopefully season 2 of DD will introduce more promising heroines and villians (Bullseye).

  8. I am going to watch the advance preview of Ghost in the Shell: the new (animated) movie Nov. 12, 2015 with English sub-titles. LCS was giving out free tix to their subscriber/customers. Think it came out in Japan Sept, 2015? About 1 hr, 25 minutes long.
