What this discussion has proven to me is that as time goes on the Boards are less and less enjoyable as we have more and more fussing. Someone, somewhere, is always going to be outraged. People can't wait to make a big deal out of something. I would hardly call it outrage. All were talking about is consistent standards for sellers. Some people like to fly by the seat of their pants and some people like to have a little structure. Nothing wrong with that I wasn't singling you out, just referring to the population at large. I don't really pay attention to the grades people assign their books. I'd like to think most sellers (on the boards, anyway) will disclose hidden damage, and go by scans. That said, there are a few sellers I would buy from without seeing pictures at all. :shrug: I did that once .... Never agaIn ...

I prefer a pic also but it's nice to have both. Let's say a seller posts a pic of a book that looks 9.2 with a 9.0ish price. On the surface it looks like a good deal but you get the book and there's a hidden Back Cover problem, page missing, tan pages, or rusty staples and the book is really a much lower grade. Is this on you ? At least if he gives a grade you have something to discuss.

You dont need to have respect for books you havent read. You do however need to acknowledge their significance in our medium, if only for the role they played in strengthening creative control with independent creators going forward That sig is bad

What would you say a CGC 9.6 is worth? Isn't it at around $450-$500 ...9.8s $800-$1000
