Great write up FFB. Flessel truely is a legend and is work is just as incredible today as it was in the 40s. Sounds like a great guy too.
-
just stuck these over at group shot; this is home to them as well.
Love that USA run. So many great war covers in that bunch.
-
Awesome Cap 1 ciorac. Might be the best combination key book/classic cover out there.
-
Nice pickup 143ksk! Real cool cover too. What's the grade on it?
-
Here are my All Selects...#1 and #2 are the BEST covers in the whole 11 issue run in my opinion...the #3 is ok too..I don't think I could ever get sick of looking at All Select #1....arguably the BEST Cap cover ever done. Enjoy!
Great books Primetime! I agree 1 & 2 are the best covers in the run. I don't see issue #2 very often, very cool.

Great pickup Surfer. I love that HT # 8 cover and think it could be designated a classic. Better than the HT #5 and every bit as good as MM #9 IMO.Hold on Durgen08! The Torch 8 is great, but not as great as the MM9 It would have been cooler if Subby was not holding an anti-flame gun on the Torch 8...Schomburg shoulda made them in hand to hand combat over the GW bridge!
But, I do agree that the 8 is better than the HT 5 by a long shot!
I figured my opinion wouldn't be shared by most. Just to clarify, MM #9 is the much more significant & rare book which makes it much more appealing than the HT #8, however just judging the cover images only I think they are about equally impressive.

they snatched the UNRESTORED 5.0 #36 I was thinking about as well
Wow Alton, are you venturing into pre-Robin TECs?
-
Nice books, Issue #5 is on my eventual want list. Have this one on hold:

I was wondering why one of you Tec guys hadn't snatched that one up, , now I know.
And knowing is half the battle.
I remember the TEC 36 listing as well. I wonder why it had no mention of the resto?
The TEC 37 was a real sweet copy. Great pickup to whoever got it.

I love the AM #22 as well. What an awesome cover.
Those nazi monsters would have taken over the world if it wasn't for Amazing-Man discovering their only weakness .... a swift punch to the groin.

Awesome Matt! I'm glad your deal worked out and you got yourself an Action 39. Us Action war cover collectors know how tough that book is. Definitely the best looking copy of that issue I've seen as well. Great pickup.
-
That is my FAVORITE cover of the ENTIRE run!! Holy Moley!
Mine too. You have great taste! One of my favorites as well. I've always thought the best Marvel Mystery covers were ones that festured the Sub-Mariner. Great book.
-
Not the best photo, but here are a handful of my best GA's...
Wow Primetime, you know I'm already drooling over your Action 13, but I didn't know you had all those other great books. Awesome group shot.

As I mentioned before (jokingly), I'm collecting Action Comics in order. But now that I've just gotten this one (to follow my 1 and 2), maybe it's not a joke any more! Who here has a 4 they'd like to sell??
Great book Win. Can you offer any specifics on it? Such as resto work, page quality, how much you'd sell it to me for, etc?
Omealia certianly had some great early Action covers didn't he? Awesome pickup!
-
Neither book does much for me, but I'll have to lean towards the MM #1. I believe DC had a 2nd printing of TEC #2 on used toilet paper and I'd like to avoid those editions.
-
Wow, more great books stagedoor! I agree with you on Sub-mariner #6, as it's one of my favorite Timely covers as well. Actually both Cap covers are up there on my favorite list also. All three are just awesome.
-
All right, twist my arm.....
Another big shout out to The Man, buttock, for this beaut, which officially completes my run of Funny Pages covers featuring the Arrow:
Wow, pretty impressive to have the whole run of Funny Pages Arrow covers. Some really great covers in that run.

Thanks guys for the kind words.
I'm real happy with this book as I've always wanted an Action between 2-10, and the only way for me to afford this book is to get a restored copy. I'm happy it has no tape, no cleaning, & no trimming.
I do still hope to find an Action #13 someday, but it's been such a long time looking that I've had to move on to other options.

Wow Surfer
What an awesome book. Did you sell your undercopy?

Here's a purchase from last year that I've finally paid off. This was MAJOR purchase considering my limited comic budget, but I couldn't pass it up. I'm like a proud pappa with this one, and it's the next best thing to me finding my grail (Action #13).
Here it is
-
Action 25 for me. I've always wanted a Mile High Action, and this would fit the bill nicely.
-
Attack Of the Clones? Star Wars prototype issue.

You DC guys are all in denial, Robin was the original tool wonder and DC would have been better off closing shop like Goodman did in the 50's instead of cranking out all those lame story lines.
If Robin is the original, then in regards to Bucky & Timely I quote a wise old man... "Who's the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?"
-
I couldn't pass up the Batman #1 as it's too cool a book. Now if the X-men #1 was a 9.9, I would have to reconsider.

Just an excuse to bump this thread:
Here's my copy of Supes #17 which I bought years ago not knowing the staples were replaced but still it presents well for a 3.0.
