  1. Saw this pic on an Amazon review. Interesting, ditching the large icon bases, and using the foot pegs to stick in what looks like foam core. I have most of these and it would save space, but note sure about stability.

  2. Calling out prices in a sales thread. Helpful or tacky?

Sometimes a book sells within seconds, sometimes it's still sitting there a month later.

The book is hot, but the price is not. This board has money, no doubt, but sometimes great books just sit there, and you know we are all thinking the same thing: "The price is too high."

But if that is mentioned, the pitchforks come out. Even if someone is just expressing what others may be thinking.

    Thoughts?

  3. Whoa. The Heritage copy just sold: $7,000

    CBCS 7.0 Moderate (A) Off-white pages.

"Amateur Restoration Includes: color touch on cover, pieces added to cover, cover & centerfold reinforced, spine split sealed, tear seals, cover cleaned. Bottom of cover & right edge trimmed."

Did this book just die on the table, or too much resto/trim and not CGC?

Just thinking about the .5 restored that sold for $5K last year.

  4. Drew McWeeny at HitFix thinks that because of poor BvS showings at advance screenings, WB is going to push back Justice League and bring another Batman movie forward instead. In fact he's saying their entire slate of DCU movies may be affected...

It's in an embedded video on this link:

    http://www.hitfix.com/the-dartboard/batman-v-superman-could-dcs-entire-slate-be-in-jeopardy-fandemonium

On the one hand it doesn't surprise me. On the other I'm starting to feel very bummed. Here's hoping he's wrong and the movie kills at the box office!

this guy. He doesn't know mess. All these internet reporters act like they are insiders. Tired of all the doom and gloom around this movie.

  5. And then, as sometimes happens, a gong sounded and everybody seemed to realize at the same time: Early Tecs are hot .... first Robin ... kinda scarce ... I NEED ONE!!

All the insanity started last May when this happened for some reason:

Tonight a .5 restored (trimmed, with wrong back cover) sold on the Bay for $5,300

Then every mess copy came out of the woodwork getting equally high prices. And then came the nicer low grade copies.

  6.

That's just a soft result for the book, plain and simple. Either demand is softening with so many copies coming to market at once

    -J.

And another copy currently on HA:

    Detective Comics #38 CBCS Restored FN/VF 7.0 Moderate (A) Off-white pages.

"Amateur Restoration Includes: color touch on cover, pieces added to cover, cover & centerfold reinforced, spine split sealed, tear seals, cover cleaned. Bottom of cover & right edge trimmed."

Currently at $2,600 with 17 days remaining.
