Yeah I always used the coupon on 4 GA books with a quick turn around.
So sure I can get the same benefits and the money I put into it back, but getting $230+ worth of grading for $150 or whatever the cost, was a much better benefit.
If you were using that coupon on Moderns, you were doing it wrong
*now please carry on about how slow CGC is
-
No been several months since they changed to the credit program. It pissed all the old collectors off cause they only get a couple of books graded, but made all the modern guys happy cause they get a better return.
Thanks. I missed that somehow. I was one of the old collectors who would use the coupon on big GA stuff. So now a premium membership seems useless.
-
Is CGC still doing the 4 book membership coupon for signups to Premium? Now it is showing $150 Credit to CGC with membership costing $149.

I still think some collectors who just wanted a copy, got into a bidding war on that .5 and inflated the price. I mean restored, wrong back cover and trimmed?
It was the perfect storm. Put up the worst available copy, that still presents well, at a low starting auction, and bidders think this is their chance. And it just kept going and going.
The last restored .5 sold at HA in 2013 for $1600. Huge jump and not an upward trend that can be sustained. See More Fun 73

Yeah I own #60, #1 and New Teen Titans #1
But IMO BB #54 is one of the ugliest covers in the SA. No Titans logo, half the team knocked out like a 90's JLA cover, and a boring villain with squiggly lines.
I have owned it several times and always sell it. When it came to that book I decided that I just dont care to own it despite its importance.

Yeah there is a copy for sale on CC now, 1.0, restored with brittle pages, $15K BIN.
And i'm like
-
I followed the auction as well. Did you bid ?
Nope, thought about it, but couldn't pull the trigger. Waiting (hopefully) for the book to cool off. I feel like that mess copy that sold for $5K awhile back (.5 restored, wrong back cover) has everything jacked up for now.

I have been watching this copy all week on eBay. Raw, complete but spine split.
$5,000 opening bid with no activity all week.
2 bids in the final seconds brought it up to $6,356

And are you really satisfied with owning a 60 and no 54, I've never run into a Teen Titans collector who was.
This Titans fan is very satisfied owning 60 and not 54. So there is your first.
-
54 has an ugly cover. 60 does not have an ugly cover. 60 has a Teen Titans logo.
So 60 for me.

From my DC anthology thread:
-
What should one expect to pay for a complete Showcase 4 in poor/fair?
We had a sell here on the boards recently, a CGC 1.0 for $5K
-
Yeah but this one had a piece of another cover glued to it or something right through Robin. (Trying to remember the notes) Just ew for the price.
-
Almost $8K for the 1.5 restored last night on CC. IMO the cover did not have good eye appeal at all either.

Just got this:
-
It's been 18 years since Robin has been in a movie (Sorry JGL doesn't count)
And how many times has some B-Player marvel character gone crazy after a movie mention? This is Robin!
Or it could simply be because I am looking for a copy now.
-
Yeah, a thread over we are trying to figure out what's going on with 38. I was high bidder for awhile, but then it took off in the last few hours.
-
nope erked I lost the 36 so put it a dumb bid at the last sec on the 37 and won it, doesn't really do me that much good considering I have a complete copy
James G
SO thats who outbid me on #37
-
That's what I am trying to figure out. I know there is talk of Robin being mentioned in the plot for BvS and Suicide Squad, and there's the Titans TV show, but i don't get it.
-
And now people are going to start charging insane prices.
Yay!
-
Mine didn't sell last month. Guess I needed to price much higher
I will look at it longingly at Heroes
-
The Tec run was fun to watch on eBay last night. Except for the part where I lost #38.
-
Ugh. I picked a helluva time to finally start looking for one. I wish I had done it a couple of years ago.
-
Well something is certainly going on.
A 2.5 restored sold for around $4,800 earlier this year (if I am remembering GPA correctly)
Tonight a .5 restored (trimmed, with wrong back cover) sold on the Bay for $5,300
Over on ComicConnect a 1.5 restored (large pc of another cvr glued to int. cvr,) is at $5,400 with 13 days left.
The 4.5 restored that Gator had for sale last month is looking like a steal now.

Demand for this book is crazy now. Every time I have a sales thread I get several PM's asking to buy my copy from my sig.
