OK, but what's the relevance of the hacking?  Did it almost throw some kind of wrench into your situation?

The relevance is that it's annoying me. It's always something that seems to come between us, if it's not on my end it's on hers. It makes me angrier at myself for not taking up her many offers of video chatting on Discord when I had the chance.

What's the backstory on the Discord thing?

Well simply put I told her that if I were to leave MNF I want to have her on discord because previously, MNF was the only  place I can speak with her. I spoke to Sam's sister and got Sam's discord account info. I know it's been hacked because I got the alert as it was happening.

Fair enough, family dynamics can certainly be weird.

That aside, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be right, but in your Sam situation you're operating on almost total blind faith.  A lot of your answers tend to be "because Sam told me" or "because God told me".  I haven't once seen something like "well I looked up her name on mylife and it confirmed the age and residence that she told me".  At least that would be some type of background work on your part.  Add in all the wife talk and your absurd excuses as to why the two of you have never video chatted (she works too much, you need several hours to look your best), and you can see why I have posited that part of you is afraid that this is not real.

Keep in mind too -- you aren't talking about meeting a girl in the next town over.  This is a significant financial expenditure for you to cross an international border to meet someone you've never even seen, and in reality know nothing about beyond what you've been told and have been willing to accept on blind faith.  Granted you're only going to the US and not Syria, but you met this person on MNFclub.  Is it possible a predator was in there looking to impart some influence on disillusioned individuals?  And the whole super power talk?  You're a comic fan, what better way to appeal to you?

As of now you're flying totally blind Gabe.  Is it any wonder that a lot of us are worried about you?

Ok then, let me add more detail. It's still a lot of faith but I did look her up, the address she gave me checks out, I looked up her IP address, I have access to her MNF account, she's never lied to me.

I also asked her about sending me a few pics of her and she said yes, she said she's happy to show me her powers when I will visit her. I asked about Discord and she said it's been hacked which I know is true.

For the pics she said she would take off her sunglasses for it.

Here's a follow-up question -- how did you approach these conversations you've had with them?  Were you open minded and willing to listen to potentially constructive criticism, or did you bring the same superiority complex like you often do here (e.g. I know better than everyone)?  Because the close minded approach is almost universally met with eye rolling, no matter the topic of conversation.  Just something to reflect on.

I don't have a superiority complex. I can say the same for you boardies, most anyway, always thinking you're right. My conversations with them are different but I don't really bother talking to them anymore because no matter what I would say they didn't care much. It didn't matter what the subject at hand was either.

Don't even give him the time of day.  He is a keyboard warrior... and seemingly a very angry one at that.

    @uchiha101

You mention that you would not tell your parents what is going on in your life and that there is a bit of conflict going on there. Is there anyone else in your family that you feel comfortable talking to or letting them know what is going on?  Perhaps a sibling? Perhaps a uncle or aunt that you trust? Grandparent?

You never know.  There are many instances where fresh eyes can offer insight that none of us here, yourself included, might be able to see.

Yes my family and I don't see eye to eye. I can't even talk to them about just reselling stuff or anything that makes me happy because they don't care. I've tried speaking to my brother about this before and it didn't go well. Everyone else is too far away. My grandma speaks very little English and there's a language barrier quite often. Those that would have understood are already dead.

    To paraphrase you...

I've already told you that I would admit it if I were wrong. But you're not listening.

It's very simple for me to admit that I'm wrong. (shrug)

How long are we going to have to wait for proof of her existence, let alone her "superhuman powers"?

Shouldn't take more than a day, really...or if she is your wife...all of five minutes.

Is that so? Then why do you have such a hard time admitting that I'm not delusional?

I said I will be getting pics when I meet her in person.

When I was 23 I thought I knew more than everyone, definitely would not take advice from old people (most of who thought I was delusional) made a lot of mistakes, did a lot of dangerous stuff, but hey I made it through.  Gabe actually seems pretty close to normal to me.  Sounds like what it’s like to be 23!

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one, correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the older generation considers anything too far out of their comfort zone as "delusional" yes?

This guy needs serious help, not a bunch of people egging him on in this journal. For those of you who fail to see the seriousness of the matter and the negative implications for Gabe...

    From WebMD

Delusional disorder, previously called paranoid disorder, is a type of serious mental illness called a psychotic disorder. People who have it can’t tell what’s real from what is imagined.

Delusions are the main symptom of delusional disorder. They’re unshakable beliefs in something that isn’t true or based on reality. But that doesn’t mean they’re completely unrealistic. Delusional disorder involves delusions that aren’t bizarre, having to do with situations that could happen in real life, like being followed, poisoned, deceived, conspired against, or loved from a distance. These delusions usually involve mistaken perceptions or experiences. But in reality, the situations are either not true at all or highly exaggerated.

A bizarre delusion, by contrast, is something that could never happen in real life, such as being cloned by aliens or having your thoughts broadcast on TV. A person who has such thoughts might be considered delusional with bizarre-type delusions.

Although delusions might be a symptom of more common disorders, such as schizophrenia, delusional disorder itself is rather rare.

Erotomanic: The person believes someone is in love with them and might try to contact that person. Often it’s someone important or famous. This can lead to stalking behavior.

Delusional disorder can be very difficult to treat, in part because those who have it often have poor insight and do not know there’s a psychiatric problem.

People with severe symptoms or who are at risk of hurting themselves or others might need to be hospitalized until the condition is stabilized.

What Are the Complications of Delusional Disorder?

People with delusional disorder might become depressed, often as the result of difficulties associated with the delusions.
Acting on the delusions also can lead to violence or legal problems. For example, a person with an erotomanic delusion who stalks or harasses the object of the delusion could be arrested.
Also, people with this disorder can become alienated from others, especially if their delusions interfere with or damage their relationships.

WebMD pretty much says everything is cancer as well. I'm not delusional. And you keep coming back to my journal. I told you that you would.

Eh... Guilty on a couple of posts... you're right.

    So...

Gabe... @uchiha101 do your parents or a close relative know what is going on here?  I am being serious.  Say for example you do leave to go somewhere to meet up with someone for the first time.  Your parents or a close family member should be aware of your whereabouts.  My brother is 41 and lives on the opposite side of the country and will text or tell my parents whenever he is leaving the country.  Back in 2011, I decided to take a little road trip from New York to Nova Scotia to visit my coworker who had a house there, stopping in Maine, New Hampshire and Boston along the way... As I was travelling by myself and driving, I let my parents know what I was doing.

That time I was stuck in New Orleans during Katrina... I let 'everyone' know what was going on during the storm.

You're family knows you best, and not a bunch of strangers on a message board.  Do not seek validation from us. However, while you are an adult, you should be making them aware of what is going on in your life rather than us when it comes to a few of these things that you have mentioned in this thread.

I don't tell my parents where I'm going or what I'm doing, in fact, I haven't even told them about my wife Samantha. I rather them think that I'm alone and have trouble finding a girl than to bring Sam and her sister to meet them. I explained to Sam and her sister what to expect if they did want to meet my family and they were less than amused and didn't want anything to do with them. Sam and her sister said that if I ever need a place I can live with them.

I tell my friends what I'm doing.
