  4. Mike: I really envy this book, but isn't it a different book than the 10.0 book you were bidding on back in late-May? The book above is a Rocketeer Adventures #1 Jetpack Comics Edition with a 05/11 publishing date whereras the 10.0 book in question was a Rocketeer Adventures #v2 #1 Jetpack Comics Edition with a 03/12 publishing date. The covers are identical other than the book title and the publishing date. I've never come across your book in the wild and I've searched for it ... I even contacted Jetpack Comics (who were selling the Rocketeer Adventures #v2 #1 (03/12) for $5.00 each during their Black Friday sale last year) and they could not explain why a Rocketeer Adventures #1 Jetpack Comics Edition with a 05/11 publishing date even exists. All of the books that Jetpack has in stock are Rocketeer Adventures #v2 #1 Jetpack Comics Edition with a 03/12 publishing date. I'm not certain whether your book was a printing error? Variant? Who knows? We are doing a bit better re: COVID-19 in Canada. As of yesterday, we had gone 13 days in Nova Scotia without a new case, everyone MUST wear masks as of July 31 in public places, and social distancing is now becoming "normal".

  16. Mike: The following is directly from eBay and confirms my understanding of ending an auction early: Whether you can end your auction listing early depends on if you’ve received any bids yet, how much time is left in the auction, and if you have a reserve price in place. You can end your auction listing early if: There are no bids on your item. There are bids on your item, and you are willing to sell your item to the current highest bidder. There are bids on your item, and you don’t want to sell it to the highest bidder, but there are 12 or more hours left in the listing. In this situation, you’ll need to cancel all active bids before you can end your listing. We charge a fee for ending a listing in this way. You can’t end your auction listing early if: There are fewer than 12 hours left in the listing, you’ve received bids, and you don’t want to sell it to the highest bidder. There are fewer than 12 hours left in the listing, you’ve received bids, but the item’s reserve price hasn’t been met yet. Based on the above, it appears that there was perhaps a side deal ... and since I share your fondness for Dave Stevens, I am also in agreement that this 10.0 book certainly would have been a nice pick-up ... even at $1,000!
  17. I agree that the scores are very, very low based on the rarity of the book and most certainly should be corrected. The link you quoted is often used to explain why 100 "Royal Blue" books were printed; however, the explanation below from another boardie per a discussion in late 2019 seems more plausible! "I'd like to know where this "gold foil" story came from. The story repeated at "Vampirlore" and other places is not correct, despite being quoted from Bon. There was never going to be a "gold foil second printing"; they'd already MADE the gold foil variant for the first printing, so they certainly didn't "run out" of "gold foil"...they never made them in the first place ("gold foil 2nd printings.") . What DID happen is that they went back to press to print a second printing, and they used (obviously) the teal foil...but they had the (what would come to be known as the "royal") blue foil available as well, so they printed "100" or so of the actual blues as a "test" run, to see what they'd look like...much like the red and blue Maxx 1/2s. Someone liked the look, and they then decided to use it going forward...with the next one being Vampirella #0 6 months later. The idea that a publisher would order "gold foil" and the printer "ran out" and substituted another color is not plausible. They also wouldn't have only printed "100" of them if they had an actual order. Harris didn't yet do "100" print runs. The details don't jive."
