  1. For those who are interested, final hammer price is $19,600.
  2. Did a 5 figure transaction with Boomcity and it went really smooth. Great communications and prompt reply. I will look forward to deal with him again. Thanks and best.
  3. I dont understand the buyer, the bubble wrap markings on the slabs are not an issue at all and can usually be removed with some gentle cleaner. If I am the buyer I would keep the book since it was won at such good price. One time I received my hulk 181 in just plain plastic mailbag, needless to say the slab was found with multiple cracks and scratches. The book was won through an Ebay auction at a reasonable market price. Luckily i kept the book because the value has almost double now. I had since reslabbed the book and its good as gold now.
  4. Hmm, wonder what really knocks it down to a 2.5?
  5. Well said. If the hand writing on the date is beautiful and non obstructive, it may even add value to it.
  6. Not really strange ebay encounter but a rather crossing one; I received my Hulk #181 CGC graded slab in just plain plastic mail wrap and one layer of bubble wrap with no cardboard protection. Needless to say, multiple cracks were found on the slab. Why on earth would anyone send such a key book in just plain plastic envelop?
  7. Anyone following this auction on ebay? Same copy is also listed in Comicconnect. It will be interesting to see the final hammer price. Disclaimer no I am not the owner of the copy.
  8. Thanks mate, took me a minute to wonder about "spring water". Yes. being a metro boy, I grew up with "tapwater". I guess its the next best thing mankind has invented.
  9. Another smooth transaction done with Adam. Previously dealt with him via Ebay and found him in this forum. What a small world! Thanks Adam.
  10. Wow. I wish I had the same passion as you! Thank you for sharing.
  11. I invest in those comic cards too, however I manage to give it to my friend as birthday present before it was tossed by mum.
  12. Not sure if this is the right forum to post it, if not will the moderators please move it accordingly? Thank you in advance! My story with comic book collecting begins without even having the opportunity to read them! I remember vividly it was Superman 75, Death of Superman in sealed black polybag. My friend helped me to buy it from the shop which was going for $10 each copy because of the anticipated best-selling copy. What's interesting is a few years later, the same friend wanted to buy it from me at an irresistible price of $50 which is 5x the price I had paid for! This is my first time making money out of my own hands, which further instills my interest in comic books collecting. The second comic I acquired is the legendary Spider-man 375 and this time I gets to read, smell the pages and thoroughly enjoy it. <3 <3 <3 For those who remember, it comes with a catchy hologram cover that pleases the child mind of mine. The look on the beautiful cover makes my feeling like sugar-candy to toddlers. Anyhow, sometime down the road, my mother found out about my comic book and disapprove it because she worry this will affect my studies. In a fit of anger, she threw all my comic books away. That day my heart set down like a stone. I cant help it. It was like someone who destroy your business and something that you enjoys doing it, making money out of it at the same time. In later years, I came to realise mum was doing this for my own good. Eventually I came out of the university with a degree and doing a decent job at this time because of her. However, we often talk about this and she agree there's a better alternative way to resolve this incident, that is by confiscating the comics away from me and keep it until I finish my studies. However, we are all humans and we all make silly mistakes, even for an adult. After I started my career, I begin collecting back comic books immediately. It was like a prisoner who had just came out of jail. Haha. This time however my first purchase comic book is actually something I can't read at all! >.< It is the first copy of Spawn #1, but was re-written in Italian/SPanish language. But I recognise the character and book issue because I had it in English version many years back before it was trashed. This was bought when I was on a business trip in Italy or Spain, cant remember. Haha Anyway this is my short life story of how I came about collecting comic books and getting the opportunity to love them. I must thank all those artist (Stan Lee, Jerry Robinson, Todd MacFarlane and many more) and my friend who help bought my first Superman 75, in which allows me to shape my childhood interest till now. How about you folks? Do you have a story behind your favorite comic books? Do take abit time off and share
  13. After a couple of generations, CRM/OW will be a norm for SA copies
  14. Fully agree! The beauty of restored comics is they can be collected at a fraction of the original price.
  15. Folks with lower budget like me would not mind a restored copy. Especially if the restoration was done right.
  16. Thank you for your time in contributing this
  17. On the first impulse will be Superman, however the real favorite will be a man-bat who cant fly but has more exciting storyline. He does not red underwear outside though...
  18. I skipped this ASM #2 movie cos ASM #1 disappointed me. I still prefer the the shy version spider-man played by Tobey Maguire.
