  1. You do know that spiders don't have their venom in their saliva, right...? And you do know that spiders don't even HAVE saliva, right...?

You do know we're talking about a fantasy world correct? *waits for the page of text*

..which makes the idea that his saliva is "venom" even more absurd, because none of the people creating Venom stories has ever portrayed it that way. See how that works...?

And who is "we"...? Do you have more than one personality rattling around in your head...?

*waits for yet another silly comment*

Falls for it every time.. :insane:

    Wow! Story?

Just a local online post about comics. I asked if he had any pictures and he sends me a group shot with Hulk 181 BA 12 and NM 98. Immediately got in my car and went to check them out. I see a guy pulling out as I pull up. He just purchased the Hulk 180 and 181, 2 copies of WWBN 32 in high grade, BA 12 in high grade ,Hawkman 4, and Tomb of Dracula 10. He had a VG sticker on the BA12 I purchased and its probably around a 7.5 copy. He stated the hulk 181 was a VG/F copy and he just sold it for $700 along with the other books.. doh! Still happy with what I found. Great stuff at great prices..

  3.

Looks like an 8.0 to me.

The description in that auction is pretty much as well honed of a swindle as you can get, without being downright criminal.

Key points being a two fold double whammy, bait and switch sucker punch:

The seller states he is not a professional grader, so he gets to opt out of actually assigning a grade to the book....initially, drawing in the suckers with the bait of basically saying that he doesn't know what he's doing.

Then he adds in the switch of "This book will benefit from a press" to nail it home.

Seeing as all of the spine ticks break color to one degree or another, a press will have a minor effect on the book.

Best case scenario is a press bumps it from an 8.0 to an 8.5....

My take is that the seller knew exactly what he was doing.

I don't know the seller or his practices. Seems pretty standard for eBay. I just thought the closing price was strong for a copy with that many flaws. I wonder what a graded 9.8 would fetch? hm

This guy was SilverSurpher, he is in the Hall of Shame here.

He went by Dr Frankenstein on the boards amoung other shill names. He had an infamous meltdown thread. you should read it if someone can find the link.

He is an angry, threatening scammer who should be avoided at all costs.

I hope someone has a link.

    FDQ , and exit

How the hell is this guy still in business? Every few months I see a new post about him yet he still gets top dollar on a lot of his books.
