  1. The problem I have with the labels is that if you are submitting a large volume of books, the site is already a bit tedious to use and adding this extra step (which I will likely never use) is just a waste of time. They should have it in conjunction with one of the other many options and not have a dedicated page where you have to decline the label. That's my 2 cents on it.
  2. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone... Way to make it personal. Are people not capable of keeping things from getting personal anymore?
  3. If someone is going to install a chat forum and run it, they should expect criticism. There are still multiple issues years later so it's probably a discussion worth having. Going by that logic, we don't even really NEED a chat forum. Everything is trivial. But if you're going to do it, it should be done right. Personally, I've found the waits and errors on searches, the limits on searches and the PM opening to the 1st page extremely frustrating after doing it for years. It's all going to depend on people's usage of the forum and what their habits are.
  4. Gang, I'm going to close this thread and move the books to another venue. If anyone has any interest, you know where to find me. --------------------------------------------- Take 25% off remaining books Amazing Spider-man #149 CGC 9.8 OWW - Asking $2500 Blackhawk #139 CGC 9.4 White (1958) - Asking $750 (impossible book, highest graded by far, gorgeously bright and white copy) Giant Size Chillers #1 CGC 9.6 OWW (Origin and 1st app of Lillith, Daughter of Dracula) - Asking $500 Warlock #9 CGC 9.8 White - Asking $750 X-men #32 CGC 9.2 OWW - Asking $250 (genuinely thought this was going to grade higher - very attractive copy) X-men #67 CGC 9.8 OWW - Asking $900 X-men #72 CGC 9.4 OWW - Asking $200
  5. Hi Scott, I think what Roy is referring to is: When you get a notification that someone has sent a PM, and you click on the bell icon (not the envelope), then click on "So and so sent you a message", it doesn't bring you to the message they just sent. Instead, it brings you to the first page of the PM thread. Correct. And sorry for not being more clear. I move through my notifications so quickly that I don't realize what I'm doing sometimes. It's just automatic and I really needed to slow down and retrace what I actually do to remember all of the steps. Which also brings me around to point 3) about redundant notifications again. Why would I click on the Envelope to click on a little black circle to go to the last message in a message string if I'm already scrolling through notifications and click on those links (because my OCD wants those damn notifications gone!) and it SHOULD take me to the newest messages. At least that's how I would think it works logically. I'll have to pay a little more attention to all of the ways I use to get to my PMs to really have all the details / flow logic now.
  6. So the PM search seems to have multiple problems that I have experienced. This is one: I did a search for ChiSoxFan to invoice him for a recent purchase. I get the regular search delay (although it does seem unnecessarily long - I didn't time it but it felt like a minute long - definitely more than 20 seconds - I thought it was going to time out and give me an error) And then once the search was completed, I got this from my search. An old message exchange from 2013 (that I had removed myself from before this latest iteration of the chat forum) But I know that we've had other exchanges. And now I just noticed something.... Did you guys remove the "Recipient Name" and "Sender Name" check boxes for a while in the "SEARCH IN" options? I was just going to say that those were gone and since they disappeared I've been having search troubles but just noticed they've been back for the first time in months. Am I doing something wrong?? I could swear they weren't there just a few days ago.
  7. The tiny flaws along the top edge, IMHO, are easily acceptable for a 9.4. I can't tell if what I see along the upper spine (below the 12-cent circle) is on the book, on the case, or a trick of the light. If you guys are talking about the change of color in the brown along the spine, that is a problem with Heritage's imaging system and this is a very common scanner artifact that happens on many of their books (and has for years). I remember many years ago calling Heritage to ask if the scanner artifact was actually on the book or not during an auction. Personally, I've always believed that it's unacceptable especially for a book of any real value, but it's been like that for years. I'm surprised Heritage hasn't addressed this yet.
  8. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included FREE within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Pricing: I try to price books close to fair market value. I am open to offers but it's not very likely I'm going to be accepting offers at 30% off fair market value as I can wholesale books all day long at those prices.
  9. @Architecht @Scott =) I had another time out error during a PM search and it reminded me of this thread. Gang, any answers to some of the questions in this thread?
  10. Issues #12 and #15...but I'm going to give Supa-Bad-Mofo first shot as he's inquired first. I'll let you know what's available via PM after.
  11. It's such a gorgeous book. It came in small collection of Sgt. Fury books I obtained and it's as white as the day it was printed! I have a couple of other Fury books from that run that haven't been graded. Feel free to reach out of you need any others. Thank you.
  12. I joined in 2004 and Architect used to interact with members nearly daily on the forum software so the current feel is very different. And I agree, that they give a sense of 'drifting' as responses are not consistent and members often feel ignored. There really is no other word for it except unprofessional but that is the way all big business has gone to only deal with the loudest complaints while others simply remain un-addressed.
  13. Scott, appreciate the reply but this new thread has very little to do with the current problem and is about long standing issues on the new forum software that haven't been resolved. There seem to be a lot of people who voice the same complaints and would like solutions to the following problems (copied from my fist post): 1) when I get a PM notification and click on it, my PM opens to the 1st page of the PM string and not the newest message. Highly irritating and it really is unacceptable. Is there any sort of solution for this that I've missed? 2) when I am doing searches I often get a time out and an error and have to retry. I would say this happens at least once every 5-10 searches. Anybody else? Another thing that is unacceptable. 3) Once I read / seen a post that I've been notified about, the notification from the Notifications bell at the top of the screen should remove the notification. It doesn't. I have to go up there and check the notifications redundantly to make it go away. 4) They've changed the PM search function and now older messages don't show up in my searches (since the change)
  14. It's dumb. If there is a notification for a new PM, why wouldn't I want to go to that first? That should be the default.
  15. Its fairly common. I worked for a company that wanted glgc.com (It was our now defunct stock ticker name) and the lady owning it wanted $250,000. We didn't pay and I think she still has the domain. When I worked at a Benz dealership in the late 90's my old boss owned MercedesBenz.ca (think that was it) and he wanted big money for it. I can't remember what it was, but it was a 6 figure amount. Benz Canada didn't pay and they went with some other domain. I see now that the domain routes to mercedes-benz.ca so I'm not sure if he sold it or not but at the time he was just forced to squat on it. Heritage sold a comic book related domain name for an undisclosed 6 figure price. I don't remember the exact domain. It was either comicbook.com or comicbooks.com There was a news article about it.
  16. It's been a few years now since the change and I'm wondering how people who were here before feel about it if you still have any ongoing problems. My most common problems / complaints have not changed. 1) when I get a PM notification and click on it, my PM opens to the 1st page of the PM string and not the newest message. 4) They've changed the PM search function and now older messages don't show up in my searches (since the change) Maybe I've missed solutions to these things? Thoughts?
