  1. I find the Marvel Cinematic Universe is why I am still even interested in the comic book scene. Avengers Infinity War and the Black Panther movies are why I am still interested in what happens with these characters and keep coming back. Imagine if there were no comic book movies at all and the comic book hobby was relying on $4.99 monthly comics to keep the hobby relevant? That would in fact be sad. Like your excursion into crypto currency, you only find it exciting because there is money to be made. But to longtime hobbyists, the volatility and flakiness of speculators (what's 'awesome' one day is not awesome the next) is indeed pretty sad. Where would the hobby be if we didn't have movies? Probably moving along at a slower pace, with less volatility, but steadily forward as it has been for 70 years.
  2. I don't know how accurate that is. Hulk #1 was a $130-140K book a year ago. But it's close.
  3. These should be going up soon. Will have many more in a few days as well... Detective Comics #359 CGC 7.0 Flash #132 CGC 9.8 Journey Into Mystery #95 CGC 8.5 Marvel Mystery Comics #74 CGC 9.2 (stunning copy that looks brand new) Ms. Marvel #1 CGC 9.8 New Gods #1 CGC 9.6
  4. I'm going to be adding these books once they get scanned. Detective Comics #359 CGC 7.0 Flash #132 CGC 9.8 Journey Into Mystery #95 CGC 8.5 Marvel Mystery Comics #74 CGC 9.2 (stunning copy that looks brand new) Ms. Marvel #1 CGC 9.8 New Gods #1 CGC 9.6
  5. Didn't Mad #1 prices tank because a 9.9 got graded, which caused the 9.8's to drop in value (and possibly trickle down)?
  6. Marvel #1 was a hot potato for a while because someone kept putting the same copies up for sale (with the Pay copy leading the charge and dying on the vine) around the late 2000's. Since then you'd have trouble finding a copy as they've all disappeared.
  7. It's a sad world when comic book sales are defined by how television shows and movies do.
  8. This blue label has a cutoff circle. Actually, many copies have cutoff circles https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/batman-13-dc-1942-cgc-vg-40-off-white-to-white-pages/a/110054-14119.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Gang, You CAN NOT tell if a book is trimmed comparing artwork. EVER. Comics vary so much from issue to issue because of large production tolerances that often two copies of the same book will vary either in size, how they were cut, how they were colored, etc. The only way to tell if most books were trimmed (unless it's an obvious trim job) is by examining the book in hand. Comparing one book to another is not a viable method.
  9. That is not true. Not all bound copies are trimmed.

  14. Gang, for now the 10% discount applies to the uncertified books. I'm going to list some CGC graded books as well.
  15. Actually, some people abhor tape and would rather have the piece loose than taped on, methinks.
  16. That was my understanding with the rule change. They did it to discourage people from using tape (which is harmful) to increase the grade of the book.
  17. You can tape it on if you want. From what I understand, they grade the book as though the tape was not present. Voldy allows for archival tape to increase the grade as a way of not encourage poor tape repairs. If you restore it and reattach it professionally the book would probably be valued at close to the grade it would receive pre attaching the piece but the cover would look nicer.
