  1. Heritage's bidding platform factors in the buyer's premium into your final bid price. So just bid as much as you are willing to pay for the item in total and if someone wants to pay more, there's no harm done. For example, if you want to pay $100 for an item, just bid $84, Heritage adds the other $16 for you, shows you your total and you pay $100 (plus a few cents).
  2. It's expensive but they do offer arguably the best auction platform, a world class catalogue and an international presence that no other auction has house. Can't have it all. You can't have a world class auction house cheap.
  3. Correct. We're just a bunch of geriatrics who don't know how to use a cell phone. You've been here 2 months and have still no idea what you're talking about. Some of these board members are people who have been involved in the hobby since I was in diapers (and I'm pushing 50). I probably should have qualified my boards statement. Yes, it is a little more cumbersome than the 'instant gratification' of social media giving you reams of endless pictures to scroll through but I find it much more useful to follow sellers I know on this chat forum (that have experience in selling, know how to grade and price books and have a reasonable reputation on here) than scroll through nameless pics on social media. I do agree that many thread titles are poorly titled and those sellers are dorks. When it comes to social media, I just find that many sellers are completely clueless and a waste of time. It's like giving kindergarten students the reigns to online stores. For example, I constantly see people posting books for sale with 'FIRM' sales prices even though their items are priced well over market. I just roll my eyes and move on. Not only will it never sell, it never makes me want to deal with a seller like that again. Or I see endless pages and pages of stuff I have no interest in (I don't want to call it garbage but a lot of it really is) at inflated prices. Sure, you might turn up a pearl once in a while but it's not for everyone. Ironically, most of the better sellers this thread has mentioned on IG also post their stuff here.
  4. Social media is a huge waste of time to me. You spend hours browsing with very little way of focusing on what you are really looking for. With the chat forums you get titles. With eBay you have search functionality. Wading through pages and pages of pure junk isn't worth the effort most of the time to me.
  5. That's like asking how far near is from far. It depends on the tier you chose. Walkthrough? The entire process is done in about a day. The rest? Anywhere from days to weeks to months.
  6. I certainly wouldn't expect him to admit it. If it's not Dupcak, it's a shill for him. When he was selling as robojo, his name was Perry something. I don't remember anymore what name he used as comic-keys but I don't think it was Dupcak. The similarities between the type of books, how he markets them, the resto and even how he writes his descriptions are too great and if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck even if the duck is telling you it's a chicken. It is almost without a doubt him. He's a lifelong liar so you can't expect an honest answer. As for what happened to him, someone would just need to bump the Zaid thread or post a link here. There were some updates in that thread.
  7. That's like saying "it'll never go down in value". It can absolutely fail.
  8. It's hard not to have attitude when you come into a thread, try to empathize with people and reassure them and then are met with attitude first, and told your post is useless and an affront to those who are waiting to hear back from Paradise. And I'll be the first to admit that I get extra defensive sometimes. Some boardies just have a habit of riding me on these forums me and I get tired of it. I disagree that past experience means zilch. To me it's an indicator, like a ship's rudder of where a person comes from and what they are like over time. Of course that doesn't help in the moment. It's unfortunate that customers had to apply so much pressure and that Paradise has been uncommunicative but I stated what I did because it was my belief that eventually I believed everyone would be made whole somehow because whatever is going on with Paradise (and I do not know what the root cause is) I don't know Peter to be a fraud artist. As I said, I tried to reach out through a common friend (Beyonder, a long time board member who rarely posts here anymore but is long time friends with Peter) to no avail. Unfortunately, I have no news to offer. And frankly, I thought the bloodthirsty mob comment was somewhat apt as it seemed judging by the reaction I got that if my pitchfork wasn't sharpened and ready I wasn't welcome. I'm gonna stop replying because this doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I hope you guys are all made whole and I'm sorry you had to go through this.
  9. Meh, whatever. I might be wrong but he's still a jerkbutt with many of his posts on this chat forum.
  10. Let me get this straight. You're saying that me saying "I hope (and think) Pete will straighten this out" is defending Paradise and minimizing their wrong behavior? I'm sorry you see it that way. I was trying to reassure people that it hopefully will get resolved and that Pete is not the type to normally rip someone off in my experience. That's where you're mistaken. I was not being empathetic with Paradise. I was being empathetic with the people who were having difficulty in dealing with Paradise. Isn't it amazing how everyone sees something different based on their own perceptions? Hope you all get your problems resolved to your satisfaction. Back to the bloodthirsty mob.
  11. You know what is stupid? You going around the forum mocking people at your sole discretion using subtle jabs, passive aggressive threads about them and talking about people behind their backs with whomever is left in your little circle. You only quote me when you have a bone to pick with me but never to say anything positive. You mock people who post on this forum but don't realize that to some people this might be their only social circle and lifeline to the outside world. You even mocked someone with a speech impediment due to hearing loss on this forum but you couldn't offer so much as an apology. As far as contacting Paradise about this problem, I didn't click on the thread until recently and when I made my post I reached out to a friend common to both Peter and he did try to reach out. They are just as difficult to reach for me as they are for the rest of you. Just put me back on ignore so that you can build your echo chamber just as you like it.
  12. You know what I think is unnecessary? People reading into my post something that isn't there. You guys have turned the discussion onto me rather than focus on the point of the thread. Read my post again (I quoted it above because we're onto another page now). Where did I defend Paradise? I didn't. I clearly stated that I wasn't defending their actions. I stated that it's unfortunate that people were having difficulty in dealing with them. I was being empathetic. Then I stated my past experiences with Paradise in the hopes that people's fears would be allayed a bit if I stated that I hoped and thought Paradise would straighten it out eventually. The blood thirsty mob can't be satiated.
  13. And thank you for letting us know that by de facto, all of your posts are necessary.
  14. eBay has always had odd differences like that. What works and what doesn't seems to vary at times for various people. Could be related to certain servers, segments of the market, etc. I could never figure out rhyme or reason to it. But yeah, I can definitely see eBay eliminating all sold views and monetizing it somehow. Lots of free information in those sold listings and they've finally put their foot down.
  15. Well, you'd assume that someone who spends big 6 figures on books, knows all the major dealers across the country, knows about using eBay and Comiclink to value his books, knows about grading and has been collecting 40 years is not a spring chicken.
  16. The seller states this in his craigslist ad: I'm real, most of the larger dealers around the country know me.
  17. @mycomicshop I wonder why Jaydog's post was removed? Glad you guys quoted it for posterity so that people can continue to see how cancerous he is to this site. How my business is doing has NOTHING to do with the fact that you make things up about reputable people. For the record, it wasn't my intention to drag Conan / My Comic Shop through this again but I do consider Conan one of the good guys and can't stand it when people make things up about good people (as he has continued to do) so I felt the need to call Jaydogrules out on it because nobody else did. I wonder how long the moderators will allow Jaydogrules to post contentiously and also demean good standing boardies.
  18. Anybody bid in the AF #15 8.0 last week? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-8-0-UNRESTORED-1st-Appearance-of-Spider-Man-300K-VALUE-/282966203407?hash=item41e2199c0f%3Ag%3A8JUAAOSwB-Na-fo-&nma=true&si=Ke41Am6OAvLwXqlRhPVjhn5D%2F1c%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  19. This is very possibly a hoax. If he knows so many dealers, you'd think his first call would be to one of the best dealers he's dealt with rather than invite strangers into his home. And he has to know that a reputable dealer would give him more than half of what his collection is worth.
  20. Constantly opening new 'free' accounts is sort of cheating for using any service. The point of the free offering is to get to test drive the site in the hope that you purchase it to eventually help pay for the costs. I use both but I don't find $10 a month to be excessive for GPA. If you spend $100's or even $1000's a month on comics like some do, the small investment is invaluable. For me convenience is worth the small fee.
  21. I'm just going by my own years of experience of looking at raw books. It's not a discussion about right or wrong. I'm trying to learn and if I'm wrong I have no problem with it. Is thread about it somewhere on here? I'd like to read about it. Discussions segue all the time. This is a great discussion.
  22. I definitely don't think they were treated with tight tolerances like an exact science, but then I also don't think there was much variance (just based on my experience). I could be wrong, of course.
  23. True. I am not aware of any significant variation with Marvel. Are you?
  24. All Marvels were printed with white (aka bleached newsprint) paper stock. As were DCs. There were some manufacturers who did not bleach their paper in order to save money. Marvel (to my knowledge) was not one of them. Hence my confusion. Now some Marvels did have better quality newsprint than others in the early 60's based on my experience (so that some issues stayed white better than others) but by the mid 60's that seems to have been standardized.
