  1. Cerebus #1, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles#1, Eerie #1, X-men #94 have already been counterfeited. I have a duplicate copy of All American #16 that is not a terrific reprint but to the average person it would pass as a real comic. What's to stop someone counterfeiting a million dollar book? The only million dollar books so far have been provenanced up the proverbial wazoo. and that will continue to be the case until a million dollars is equivalent to what people have gotten for those fake bronze age and moderns. That's why I think that the lineage of the book is going to be increasingly important...at least for $1MIL books.

  3. I think it's pretty much guaranteed that someone will try. It's already happened for some books in fact. I think a better question might be will a book with a proven provenance or lineage carry a premium?
  4. Only the party that has been let down can put someone on the probation thread.
  5. I agree and I think it's dumb that someone is added by popular, or in this case unpopular, vote. If the wronged party doesn't have the wherewithal to do it, then tough titty. Really? but tough titty to who?(or is it for whom?) the next guy? that doesnt seem right either. Welcome to the gray area. I'm not a fan of Dr. Frank and I'm not here as his champion, but addition to the probation list based on popular vote isn't right. How about instead of letting him play in the grey area he's put on the list until a better resolution is found?
  6. Your naps are likely too long if that is the case. If you take a 10 or 20 minute power nap and wake up before you go into that "deep sleep" mode you can feel 10 times better. Once your body falls into that deep sleep it's a real bugger to get out of it. Naps can be a learned thing were you just get into the routine of taking that 10-20 minute nap daily and it does wonders for me. My problem is when I am tired, I can never fall asleep. So me trying to take a 10-20 minute nap will probably take me an hour or so Understood. Like I said it can become a learned habit. The body can be taught to get used to almost anything. It's just a matter of teaching the body. My brother in law taught me how to make myself fall asleep any time I wanted. Basically just some slow breathing and easy thoughts and you drift off.
  7. Roy, this whole thread is a heresy. And the 0.5 was hearsay. (Actually, I think it was a case of broken telephone. The 0.5 CGC was a different copy of the book.) I meant heresay. Wheresay? Theresay. heretoforesay... whydyougoandsay?

  10. Oops. never mind. Mixed up heresy which is an old religious term and the correct word hearsay. Sorry gang. Good thing Louise didn't catch that. I can still let her believe I'm perfect.
  11. Please let me be different. Isn't heresay an old English term? For some reason I have a mental block and could swear that it was a word. Am i wrong?

  13. It was your book? What grade did you give it? Gave it a 1.8. Book was complete with tape (and tape stains) on all edges.
  14. Can someone actually confirm that they saw my old book in a 0.5 holder or is this just heresay?
  15. Agreed. But this is enough for folks to think it's a small club and if you ain't in it, you're going to get goofed. Dan The club is not that small and getting bigger every day. (thumbs u
  16. Why did he say the book was more damaged than he thought? I believe the book cgc'd a .5 vs the 2.5 he stated, though that might be a diff tec 37 he is talking about It'd be a shame if it was a .5 at one time considering it's been offered here by one seller or another as a 1.8 and a 2.5. If it was the book that I sold to Yannis it wasn't a 0.5 as the book was complete with covers taped (don't know if they were attached by staples or tape as I didn't lift the tape). I graded it a 1.8 and several board members I talk to about the book agreed with the grade as a fair grade. I've yet to see a complete book with a cover attached fetch a 0.5 grade. I believe there might be more than one Tec #37 being mixed up as the one in question. (thumbs u
  17. Did he have my Batman 1? No, I told him that I wanted nothing to do with him after I told him you were a bud of mine. He tried to explain the situation about how somebody was supposed to ship it and didn't. I told him I wouldn't talk to him any further.
  18. I met Alleybat in Florida. He introduced himself to me at Megacon. After he told me who he was I told him to leave.
  19. Agreed. That picture is just so inappropriate for this forum. Girls with big beers are inappropriate? The caption. I hit the Notify button. A fellow Lostie and all? Well, how about that other one? Still inappropriate? Not so much, but somebody already quoted the first one.
  20. I know all of the people involved and although I'd rather not comment until all the facts are in I feel that I do have to say that if it went down the way the OP explained it that is not very cool in my books. I like to think that most of us hold to a higher standard of ethics than eBay. It's what I expect from people and I think they expect it from me. I myself was in a situation just last week where I sold a rare item to a board member only to receive an offer of $500 more for it immediately after the sale....heck, I was bombarded with interest and think I could have made $1000 more and although the temptation was there (temptation is always there) to make more money it really wasn't an option as my conscience wouldn't let me do it. Anyhow, I hope in some way this works for the greater good. (thumbs u
