  1. In issue #8 they began "The Teller", and his entourage, as story hosts. Here's the cover intro of him, and the first two pages introducing the others;
  2. I think I've got the full run of this title, but don't wanna bore you guys with a scan of 'em, so here's one of my favorite covers, showing a guy with his pet vampire bat homing in;
  3. Not quite the complete run, but close. I should have invested more in comic books instead of real estate in the eighties; the #3 was 5 bucks. The "Terrific" BTW is simply a continuation of the run, and numbered 14, for December, 1954. Notice how the wording across the top has been tamed down from the previous Horrific issues.
  4. I think I have all but one of those, and they are all good readers...Nice haul!
  5. I just looked at some of the scans on his site, and wouldn't consider making an offer without seeing a scan of the book I wanted; he looks to be over grading by about one full grade in the VG range. Sorry, but I'll call it as I see it. If you like Atlas style science fiction stories, #5 is just killer, and my favorite of the run.
  6. I've always felt that JIUW was their flagship title, really even above Marvel Tales, AFA cover art and stories went. I've posted my stash of them before, but being the show-off that I am, eh eh;
  7. There are some decent stories in a number of the post code Atlas's, and I noticed a proliferation of 5 and 6 stories in them, as compared to the standard 4 stories in the pre-code books. My personal criteria is that a book have at least one story that I consider worthwhile to re-read again, or I dump it unless it has a cover that by itself makes it worth keeping . That applies to all comics, pre and post code. Although my stash of post code is quite small compared to pre-code, very few get re-sold, so the story quality did carry on to a reasonable extent. It looks like all Atla pre code horror and post code suspense have taken quite a jump in price since about a year ago or so. 1955-57 books in VG are starting to go for nose-bleed prices from this tightwad's point of view, eh eh.
  8. Here's my copy; I've got pretty much a full run of the title, starting at about #5. I sold this copy on eBay last spring for a buck and a half. It was coverless, with a copy of the front and back covers, both inside and out; looked very realistic. Notice the grey across the top of the cover, and the lighter blue background, as compared to the original.
  9. If his wife looked like that, it's a wonder he ever got any work done, bwahahaha!
  10. I like me some gurls in my Horror! Well I do too, especially if their female attributes are emphasized;
  11. And speaking of digging, now who could deprive this poor ghoul from doing that for a tasty cadaver now and again;
  12. And of course, digging on crime and crime/horror comics as I do, can't forget one of my favorite titles;
  13. Now that we're done with the gurl comics, here's one of my favorite covers;
  14. I just went there, and browsed a few pages in the lower grade Golden Age section, and then I started getting the "404 not found" nag when trying other pages.
  15. "Villa of the Vampire" was used in a NY senate committee investigation, and was re-printed in Web of Mystery 19. I highly recommend reading it;
  16. Technically, per Overstreet, (The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square) the book wouldn't qualify for a 2...
  17. Now this is interesting, especially considering that it's not a slabbed book, with a CGC grade. Does the hobby now follow what CGC establishes through their assigning of grades on submitted books as the standard, or continue to adhere to the OSPG reference? Maybe I can have it both ways; when selling, give it a grade that I think CGC would assign, but when buying, use the OSPG to determine actual grade...:wink:
  18. According to the grading guide, 6.0 = Fine. For 2.0 GOOD, "The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square". Technically then it doesn't even qualify for GD. With the FC chips out, upper staple stress, dust shadow and POBC, I would give it a 4.0 VG.
  19. Does this copy look any better than a 3.0?
  20. He gives it a 6.0; kinda generous with his grading, don'tcha think?
  21. Just remember, Robot Man; if it's outside of California, it doesn't exist...:wink:
  22. Ahh, you mean this one; I posted it awhile ago here...
  23. About my favorite crime title. I have a good part of the run, and these later issues combine a bit of a horror element into the stories. "Eyes of Vengeance", the lead story in #49, would be at home in any horror comic.
