  1. Nice pick up! If that title has an iconic cover, that would be the one.
  2. Nice going! I have those three, and all are good readers!
  3. Welcome to the board, and that's a great -and somewhat rare- book you have there! How are the stories? Straight horror, or super-hero type?
  4. Congrats, and better than my copy (with pen marks on it). A 7.5 with POFC at the left top corner? Interesting. I would think a VG at most, but what do I know, .
  5. From 1990; look at the end of the third paragraph in the second column, regarding Vault 12. There are too many pages of this for me to want to scan and post, but Russ Cochran stated, "Gaines has decided to keep four sets of each EC title for his family. All of the other copies will be sold". At another point in the narrative, he said, "While Bob was ranking the copies of each issue, Anne and I applied labels to the outside of mylar sleeves." The green colored pages displaying the issues for sale and their prices, along with copy numbers from the packages, listed zero issues available for VOH #'s 12, 13, & 14.
  6. Don't have a 17, but here's my Spellbound 20; love them hooters, eh eh;
  7. Which Atlas horror titles and numbers are considered tough to find?
  8. It's always been my understanding that there was only one VOH 12 GFC. According to my copy of the master list of GFC's, and a 1990 narrative by Bob Overstreet, you are correct; one GFC of Vault 12. IDK who ended up with it, but it was not offered for sale when they began offering them to the public.
  9. Not surprising; they tend to overgrade as -or more- often as not, IMHO.
  10. I love this one, and was tempted to pick it once… I’d love to read the story! (thumbs u Happy reading; http://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=20750
  11. Yeah, I'll say! Now how ya gonna be able to pay the rent? :wink:
  12. I would tend to agree, but the artwork is just not in the same class as that in the original EC Sci Fi books, regardless if it was done by one from their stable. It's not bad, and could pass on other brands, but it's just not up to EC standards, IMHO.
  13. Yeah, that came up in my eBay search today. I did a double take until I looked at the inside front cover image. The inset panel is a little more obvious from the inside! From the outside it mostly looks OK. That cover is from undersea agent 6 by Wally wood. I messaged the seller about it; Is that cover image gimmicked, or for real? Weird SF 23 shows a rocket ship and crew members underwater...? - fifties And here's his reply; well now I know what all the tape was about! you are right, title is ok but picture has been added, can't find where the original image came from, I'll pull it. the insides match, the stories are correct . He went ahead and pulled the auction.
  14. Look at this image for Weird SF 23; http://www.ebay.com/itm/161513105178?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Compared to the real one; http://www.ebay.com/itm/WEIRD-SCIENCE-FANTSY-23-EC-1954-VOL-1-/281522221151?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item418c08305f
  15. Notice that there are similarities among the three covers; the guy on both issues one and two looks pretty much the same, as does the babe on one and three. The green creatures are all somewhat similar on all three covers. AFA the stories go in number 3; four of them, two so-so, one a definite EC swipe, the last one not too bad. Worthwhile to get mainly to complete the run, as they don't go for all that cheap. I wouldn't pay just for the stories.
  16. It's quite low...I know of several folks that have been looking for a copy for some time.... Alexisonfire,a ”screamo"band used it as a cover to one of their singles.Watch out was the song.Just a tidbit...(I had to buy it when I saw it,my first cd single..not even a fan really ) So because it was copied for a record graphic, that makes it worth so much? I wonder if they paid the royalties that would have been due? Atlas material is not public domain, AFAIK. Interesting that they selected the artwork from the cover of a now 60 some year old comic book, for a modern record.
