  1. Correct. Very off topic. Here's me thinking someone has picked up on my comment re: later gems in the run, but no. It seems to be members hidden super power here to miss the point. Let you slide this time on account of your avatar.
  2. That's a great storyline. Sadly, it just isn't like that any more. I read Oeming's storyline in the last issues of the Heroes Reborn Thor (#80 - 85) and as good as it was, it was also a poignant reminder for Thor and reader alike that the past is gone and that you can't go back.
  3. If you're really clever target the later issues with some significance, such as #49, #57, #64 and #66.
  4. Each to their own. Myself, I like the thought of owning the best copy in the world.
  5. The most valuable Thor issue at the end of the run is Thor #168, of which there are 2 copies in 9.8. One sold in Aug. 2017 for $11,800 (a real collector's price). The #156 rated a perfect 10 sold in Dec. 2002 for $5K, and has yet to re-appear. It will trump the #168 when finally on sale. Here's a thought - you have to go all the way back to #126 to locate another issue of Thor in 9.8 that matches and exceeds these later gems in price.
  6. The run really ended with #169. This includes the first appearances of the Wrecker, Mangog, Warlock (still called Him at this stage) and the Origin of Galactus saga. In high grade these issues are ULTRA rare.
  7. Yes - significantly better as truly clever on all fronts (writing, directing, acting).
  8. Exactly. The MCU was going down a very different path when IH was made. The decision to alter the plan happened during Avengers when Whedon introduced Thanos and the concept of the Infinity Stones (hence the rejig short explaining Stark's cameo in IH and the reveal that the Gauntlet in Thor was a fake). Whedon and the brothers Russo have really created the MCU that exists now.
  9. And it helps to have the variant of #688 on the side.
  10. Of course, if 1.8 is all you can afford, I understand.
  11. Journey Into Mystery #112 - Fantastic Four #112. Hulk vs. Thor and Thing respectively.
  12. My father was a doctor and business man. He and my mother were killed in an accident when I was ten. He left his business empire to myself - coincidentally the HQ is in your city. I need something to do late afternoon/early evening before I go to work at night. I tire of women very quickly - comic collecting seems like an interesting hobby.
  13. Now here's a question. Will comics from the SA still hold their value? FF#1 will be 76 years old. I believe several factors will come in play, but would like to hear from others first.
  14. Heh. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention Mr. Grimm's fashion...
  15. There is also a mistake on the cover. The FF aren't wearing their trademark costumes composed of unstable molecules. This means Reed's clothes could not stretch with him, and Sue's clothes wouldn't turn invisible with her. Johnny's clothes, of course, would simply burn away...
  16. Actually, the 1 8 didn't rate at all. Bring a 5.0 to the table to get impressed. 9.2 gets you "awe".
  17. Spider-Man? Batman? Why is the Silver Age so special? What about "modern" comics? Aren't they more important?
