  1. Handsome's Seven Women by Theodore Pratt, an under-appreciated member of the "Florida Writers" Crest Book s481 Fine Cover art by Barye Phillips, the "King" of paperback cover artists. $6 Now $5 I read somewhere that this was based on the life of @Randall Dowling
  2. Going to list a couple lower priced GGA cover books with just one picture to save time. There are so many cool covers and great reads out there. I am constantly surprised by the good writing in the random mystery/noir/sleaze books I read on a whim. The Homicidal Virgin by Brett Halliday Dell D437 VG/F Cover art by Robert McGinnis. I've read Mike Shaynes from all different periods and all great reads. $6 SOLD to Tupenny Conan
  3. Six Nights of Mystery by William Irish (Cornell Woolrich) Popular Library #258 1950 $50 Now $40 A sought after noir collection with a great Rudolph Belarski pulp style GGA cover. Each story about a night in a different city. One of my favorite Woolrich collections. Fine minus. Solid spine, pages tight, has some light creasing to the covers but the pages are very light and the book has an excellent freshness to it not usually encountered.
  4. Picture Quiz Book, Eye Clues for I.Q.'s Popular Library #223 1950 Probably the rarest Popular Library paperback outside of of the Puzzle Books $40 Now $32 Classic Alex Schomburg GGA cover, the rarest and most famous of his few vintage pb covers Very Good minus/Very Good - Solid copy, has a chip out of top spine, soiling to the cover edges. A chip and associated curls to back lower left cover edge. Pages are tanning but still supple. Despite the bunch of issues listed, the incredible central image is bold and bright and won't run you $100+ if you can find a better one.
  5. Juvenile Delinquents by Lenard Kaufman Avon 433 1952 $12 Now $10 Raymond Johnson GGA cover on a classic JD title Very Good - looks Fine/Fine plus if not for some slight moisture to the pages. Super new and glossy looking. Tight binding pages tight with slight uneveness, slight page waviness from moisture. Paper is cream and supple. Cover is bold and bright. Overall a nice copy.
  6. Madam is Dead by Robert Terrall Avon 284 1951 $18 Now $15 Pulp Fiction Vintage GGA, most likely by Bob Randall A really nice copy Fine plus. Solid spine, pages tight and supple. Super colors. Minimal edgewear and virtually no creasing. A very nice example of this classic cover vintage paperback.
  7. Avon Fantasy Reader #4 1948 $18 Now $15 Classic Vintage Science Fiction/Fantasy Digest with great uncredited cover art. My unproven theory is that Weird Tales cover artist/swiper extraordinaire A.R. Tilburne did the covers for several of these early Avon Fantasy Readers, including this one. The Arrhenius Horror (1931) by P. Schuyler Miller; The Hollow Man (1933) by Thomas Burke; Conquerors' Isle (1946) by Nelson S. Bond; The Hoard of the Gibbelins (1911) by Lord Dunsany; The Derelict (1912) by William Hope Hodgson; The Man Upstairs (1947) by Ray Bradbury; The Planet of the Dead (1932) by Clark Ashton Smith; A Warning t the Curious (1925) by M. R. James; Defense (1947) by A. E. van Vogt Very Good plus/Fine minus - solid and complete with a strong spine and no missing pages - Slight slant but the cardboard covers are lightly creased and in nice shape. Pages are tanning but still supple and very readable. A nicely presenting copy of a classic vintage digest
  8. Not a vintage paperback but in the same vein as the above and a great bargain read for any pulp fiction lover Famous Fantastic Mysteries, 30 Great Tales from Famous Fantastic Mysteries and Fantastic Novels, Edited by Stefa Dziemianowicz, Robert Weinberg and Martin H. Greenberg Cover art by Virgil Finlay $18 Now $15 $5 shipping on this one. Unread beautiful copy, has a bump to cover corner and a few hints of storage wear to the dustwrapper, but a very pretty, glossy copy over all Collects "Behind the Curtain", by Francis Stevens "Pegasus", by Henry Kuttner "Fungus Isle", by Philip M. Fisher "John Ovington Returns", by Max Brand "Fishhead", by Irvin S. Cobb "The Outcast", by E. F. Benson "The Yellow Sign", by Robert W. Jerome "Lukundoo", by Edward Lucas White "The Man Who Collected Poe", by Robert Bloch "Thus I Refute Beelzy", by John Collier "Homecoming", by Ray Bradbury "Worms of the Earth", by Robert E. Howard
  9. Worlds Of Weird Edited by Leo Margulies 1st Ed. Pyramid Books #R-1125 1965 $22 SOLD to NerV A collection (the first I believe) of Weird Tales pulp stories Virgil Finlay cover art. Fine/Very Fine - Uncreased unread copy. Perfect spine. No readers crease. Foxing to the inside covers and pages tanning as usual. A superior copy in every respect of an exceedingly difficult black cover book. \
  10. Going to get some new listings kicked off early today, I'll have to take some breaks but will try to kick out as much fun as I can throughout the day. First up, some great stories with a gorgeous Virgil Finlay cover....
  11. No, but I do have the much rarer and crazier first edition, Avon Monthly Novel digest #7. One of the craziest photo covers ever printed imho. James Hadley Chase was as hardboiled as a 12 minute egg. I consider all of these unfortunately titled books to be cultural artifacts, well worth preservation in their entirety
  12. Another nice Harlequin, the 1st Pb edition of this Weinbaum favorite. I never thought I'd see one like this.
  13. My Friday fun, just under the wire. Trying to collect Harlequins may be the most thankless task in paperbacking. Aside from the low print runs and foreign distribution, there's the crappy ink and cover paper that's almost always heavily creased and rubbed. I lucked into a couple of nice ones this week including this 1953 Harry Whittington classic, reprinted from the Phantom Digest original. A rare book in about the best shape possible for a Harlequin. Here's the Phantom Digest for reference. The beautiful George Gross cover was obviously repainted by a Harlequin artist.
  14. Sweet work on that Ace run... and nice Maguire! I have some Friday fun but will have to post it later as I've got a few errands to run
  15. So, based on discussions private and public, I'll send invoices for what's been taken so far and I'll keep the thread open until I have time to list new books, which I should be able to get to in the next week. I'll reference which page the new books start on when I get to listing them. I really appreciate all the comments, advice and takes and will do my best to keep it interesting.

  17. Thanks - I try to give some information on each book because I know that everyone doesn't know vintage paperbacks like hard core collectors do. I am going to attempt a recap with some reduced prices if that helps
  18. I think I'm just going to offer some discounts tonight and am debating whether to try to keep the thread open and list more another day. It's very time consuming so I can't keep doing it every day. I'm not sure how long people keep threads going? Is there an etiquette to it? If I do list more I might not be able to until Thursday.
  19. I don't often get chances to take home Enoch Bolles cover mags. But when I can, I do 😍 🔥
