What's the story of the sketch, if you know? It's pretty cool!

I have the Dunwich Horror but not the Weird Shadow. I like the Dunwich Horror cover much more so went after it early... The two Bart Houses and this Avon are the only 3 with pictorial covers. The 4th early Lovecraft is the Armed Services Edition, which brings big dollars but I love covers. It does not do anything for me.

Another one rolled in from the backlog. I think this Avon is even harder to find uncreased than the Pop Lib "Overboard". I've pretty much given up on finding one so grabbed this respectable one at a reasonable price. It's my favorite early Lovecraft PB, (and a swipe from Finlays July 1939 Weird Tales cover). Here's the Weird Tales (not my copy)

Yeah, "Leg Art" has a corner crease but it's very nice and bright overall for a white cover book - it'll do but it's a cover i'd upgrade if a perfect one came around. "Tempted" is glowing and a great composition but "Three Loose Ladies", in hand is the stunner. The browns are eye popping in person, and browns don't usually do that.

Want to thank @OtherEric for bequeathing his undercopy of the October 1953 Astounding to me. It's posted above but it's so nice it's worth posting twice!

Finally got some mail in today. @OtherEric your undercopy of the 10/53 Astounding arrived safe & sound and beat some other books by weeks Great page quality too! Thanks man! I'm going to post this in the pulps as well A sweet Cameo A couple of Quarters... A very sharp Rodewald cover A George Gross classic A Jack Woodford Avon digest with a nice lingerie cover Finally a pretty Diversey digest in amazing structural condition It was a nice day. Empty mailboxes are no fun

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped." Dude was a visionary so I suspect his book will be in the first wave to reach the requisite temperature... Fortunately Orwell avoided Rubashov's fate but Koestler's warnings about trial by accusation seem more relevant than ever. I know I always go on about these 3 books but they're kind of important to my mind. See you in the reducation camp

Sweet digests! Rainbows are near and dear! Funny I just saw that crazy Ace today on the 'bay. And the Avon's.... pretty Not sure whats up with usps because I have a bunchload of books dating back to July 20 that haven't been delivered!!! Mostly from Cali and I read that packages are piling up in the centers while they're negotiating

The Curse Of The Collector Beautiful stuff! Keep it going! Here's a Mitchell Hooks JD cover I picked up and i'm happy to share from his "Stylistic" period. I call it that because in interviews he says that he hated having to paint the gorgeous girl and had a lot more fun finding compositions that sold the idea of the book.

Here's a couple of the better ones from that box. I was pleasantly surprised. These were all found in independent bookstores in New York City in the 1980's. A Harry Schaare cover Corgi. Quite a few Bantam family books in here. A very early Bantam by journalist Elliot Paul that's pretty sharp. A skinny late Avon edition of Nathanael West's classic And a very fat, unread historical Perma with a funny blurb and a gorgeous blue banner.
