  1. Lol - hey, after a while the knowledge and good taste starts to get into your blood and you know the good ones when you see them!
  2. This is gonna be a good week.. How much would this be worth if it was a comic book? Halliday sold millions so his books seems common but some aren't in condition. This Schulz cover is insane and the book seems to mostly exist creased to death or very spine rolled. Been looking for a cheap decent one for a while and chose spine roll because I hate heavy creasing A couple of hard hitting Etons... Love the subtlety of the blurb "Humans don't act that way." when the reader knows they do in these books... There is no subtlety to "Kiss My Fist" Couple of Digests (of course!) Early classic Venus If you want to collect Peggy Gaddis you better have a long life and a deep pocket lol. She must've written 500 novels Keyhole covers are a genre all their own... Unis are so fragile, a black cover is bound to be rubbed but this one isn't creased up. Another nice Uni with a Walter Popp cover that has great colors and a cat-scratched face on the dude.
  3. He sure is - Westy linked a few vids here a while back, including the one on Croydons.. which of course set me back to hunting down Croydons I've always tried to buy a few things from Gryphon. Aside from him managing to find lots of cool books to sell, I look at it as paying it backward/forward? to a guy who has shared so much then lost almost everything (to Hurricane Sandy storm surge 2012) but has carried on valiantly and passionately as ever.
  4. Sweet all around. It's getting good in here and there'a a whole week ahead I'm really gonna have to get to work on Phantoms. I've never had many of them.
  5. A nice mixed bag of stuff to show today. Minty copy of one of the LB Cole romance pb's that I needed. A nice copy of the Maguire Salambo that sparked some cool comentary a couple pages ago A tempting Carnival digest And a couple of early Lion's including an early Harry Schaare cover on 19 and a pretty classic drug/sleaze title with the requisite unbuttoned tough girl with cigarette
  6. I've found these BCW polypropylene bags to be the clearest and quite sturdy. They make digest size as well
  7. Please stay away from the Digests, they're unhealthy for your morals and wallet Great selection - The Dream Club is actually a second print as well although a fantastic one because it's a different and somewhat cooler title than the original, Beyond Desire, which moonpool recently posted. Beyond Desire is definitely a tougher find though and moonpool's copy is drool worthy.
  8. They're not in my collecting focus but I always pick them up when they're minty
  9. It's funny I love Frazetta's book work but when I first started collecting they were too new to really be considered collectible. I guess it's time to re-think that as much of it is 50 yrs old now As for Maguire, you've made some great choices but he did a LOT of covers so carry on! My favorites are these full length poses on the long format books like this Monarch and the Signets.
  10. Another great haul! You are really trying to make a dent in the supply chain! I have a bunch coming in over the next week so should provide some friendly competition Most of the longer digest series like Venus, Cameo etc reprinted later in the series. A few others reprinted in a separate series (Star for Original Novels and Intimate (or Stallion?) for UniBooks I believe.) In most instances the 1st is the one to get although I gladly pick up the reprints if the price/condition crux is right.
  11. Here's a very cool Pocket anthology. I can tell it's from my 1st collection because it's sideways in a cut comic bag. It wasn't easy finding PB bags in the '80's! The Pocket catalogue is so vast it's hard to conceive how varied they went over the years. You have to dig a little to pull them out but there are some wild covers like this one by Lou Glanzman of comic art fame...
  12. I really need to get after that title again. The original cover is great but I actually like the cover of this later printing more
  13. Lol! You know if you try to collect perfect specimens of older Pocket Books your collection will be sparse
  14. Some more Pocket classics with fantasy elements. I don't currently have a copy but heck, Pocket #1, Lost Horizon, is a fantasy
  15. I posted this pic before but it fits right here because a couple have fantasy elements. Classics are why I love Pocket Books... and it's funny Pats book of French Classics was a "Pocket" ... and try to find them square, tight and with lamination intact!
  16. Wonderfully described memories Pat! I got into fantasy and sci fi with The Hobbit and Rocket Ship Galileo respectively but as I grew older and read the classics realized that much of it was fantasy. From Gullivers Travels to The House of Seven Gables to A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court to Candide, etc. etc. tons of classic litererature was imbued with historical fantasy, witchcraft and supernatural occurrences. The world of literature is filled with wonder. Thanks for sharing some of yours
  17. Nice haul! Funny... minds think alike as I had just ordered a copy of this (the best) edition of Salambo with the Maguire cover. Don't think i've seen that 31st of February title before. Another on the list!
  18. My favorite mail call in quite some time. I've been looking for an affordable copy of this top tier JD book for 35 years but the utter lack of availability and hence affordability has always kept it a step ahead of me. Not in top shape but tight, bright, complete and presents well.
  19. I've posted a (different) copy of Broadway Virgin before but don't think i've shown the others. Westy was asking about classic photo covers a ways back and I was re-bagging some so.....
  20. Yup ... so many classic stories and covers, and I personally love the S series. They seem like tiny little bricks next to a double and look amazing when they're sharp. Looks like RD is making inroads into the "A"s with all those Ace's and Avons
