  5. Speaking of Robert Heinlein... Podkayne in "If" is scarce as all get-out in nice shape...

  8. Here's my "Universe" - it's not the prettiest but i've had it forever and it ain't going nowhere! What a classic!
  9. Some really nice abstract art covers there. I have quite a few of those that I really like, mostly sci-fi, but the fine art still moves me more in this context...
  10. I'll trade you my Tarzan B &W #5 in VF for your Poor Superman #1... You're getting the better condition on equal comics in the deal...
  11. I've been looking for 30 years and haven't found a sharper copy. A couple tiny issues but it's a fat book... It doesn't get much better than this if you love fantasy
  12. Soooooo... back to the cover art... Berkley was a pretty mainstream publisher.
  13. For some reason... I think of this as the "Hello Pal" of vintage paperbacks
  14. - I've read the classics at least! I thought everyone read "Catcher in the Rye" at some point. My daughter just did in 8th Grade so they're still teaching them in some places! But in that vein - they did manage to attach provocative covers to some classics and more mainstream authors
  15. They ran that double imprint at least until 671, perhaps THE great cautionary tale against the evils of socialism and correctness...
  16. Avati was a master painter... Signet published so much "real literature" with provocative covers... not sure many people know that Penguin ran its numbering into Signet ... The early Penguin art covers...as opposed to years of "Title Only" covers, were mostly very simple, but great nonetheless - especially historically important writers like Richard Wright....
  17. Avon Books #305... Move Along... Nothing to See Here... Look closely at it... Mainstream publisher paperback on the newsstand next to the Chiclets in 1950...
