  1. "Crime on the Waterfront" is the other comic I got from John with an Avon swipe cover. The display is not as impressive because my Avon 122 is a true beater, I thought I have a better copy somewhere but it must be buried. At least it's not rare like MMM #49 so I can easily find a decent one if needed. The Avon itself is a swipe from a Private Detective pulp before it. The other two side panels on the comic cover look a lot like Raymond Johnson paperback paintings but I can't place where I've seen them, they are not on any of his Avon covers that I can recall. Maybe Avon dragged out some unused art from the RayJo discard pile
  2. Well, the last two years were excellent for PB buying at Windy City so I am still trying to finagle the opportunity to go again. Although having just gone to the LA show put a crimp in my sales pitch to the wif (and wallet), she still hasn't said "no way honey" if I can find the right flights . I have a buddy's place to stay at downtown so the TCO will be low if I can swing it, even if just for saturday. I'll know within the next 48. It's a wonderful show. If prices are too high on things I just walk by them, who cares? There's a lot of tables.
  3. I don't really have an opinion on a separate pulp sales thread as I only buy a few and have hardly ever sold one so it's ok by me. As far as pb's, I sell a lot of comic-book related pb's and GGA that the G/S/B boardies have testified to me, almost to a man, that they were thrilled they discovered on my sales threads because they now love them but never even knew many of them existed before. So as long as the 40-s-70's pbs can still be sold on G/S/B I'm fine with it.
  4. Yes, Walter Popp painted the cover. Saber/Ozaki is very good, @Pat Calhoun has been posting his work since day one on here. Ozaki wrote what I'd call light-hearted noir, as he injected a sense of humor into most of what I've read rather than go full darkness.
  5. I don't dabble much in comics these days but when I saw Mr. Nock's Saint No. 11 comic for sale, we worked out a deal. The cover is a swipe of the last (and rarest) Avon Murder Mystery Monthly, No. 49 "Lady, The Guy Is Dead" by Edward Ronns (Aarons). Forgive the glare.
  6. I don't usually go that low but they're not too expensive to begin with so I'd rather give them away cheaply to the good gentlemen here than re-list them elsewhere. It's a win-win
  7. Cleaned up the thread and updated the recap on Page 6 this morning. There's some pretty and cheap stragglers still available. I'll leave them up for today, then they're off to the 'bay
  8. Okay. That's the end of that box.
