  1. Friday Fun is a few more pretty Ace's I picked up recently. My favorite might be this minty copy of "Backwater Woman" inscribed by the author. Hillbilly fiction is wild, just read that back cover I suspect there aren't too many inscribed copies out there. Art looks like Nappi or Barton but not sure One of the toughest things about collecting Ace doubles if you're condition conscious is that both covers have to be real nice, unlike single pbs where you naturally give the back cover some slack cause it doesn't face forward and there's (usually) not art. Eric recently posted this Zola. I got a copy in with both sides pretty nice. A sweet looking book Love the Marchetti bondage art on this single. You don't want a copy of this Marchetti did this killer noir cover as well Great Whittington yarn on this side makes a great Double This Bloch double is signed on both sides There's just something about a square glossy Ace
  2. All of Lynn's checklists and bios are awesome. Well researched to the source wherever he can. Just a wealth and a great asset to the pb community. His Rader and Ziel checklists are primo. I literally shed a few tears reading his Ziel bio the first time through.
  3. Okay, I'm going to close it for tonight and give the foggy head some rest. I really appreciate the takes and likes. This is my first cold/flu in a couple years and it bites But I think I'm on the back end of it and have some real killer material to post up over the weekend. Pretty things and things rarely seen

  20. Think I'm feeling good enough to list a few books this evening. Have a stack of comic related pbs that might be of interest. No marathon session but I'll try to list maybe a dozen or so books.
  21. Agree here - his paint was so much heavier in those westerns, great, but totally different - he was so good, he could paint in a variety of styles and as the work changed he could with it. That loose style, used by many artists, evolved heavily in the mid to late 50's and I think most artists were directed to paint that way because it was "in" so it can really be hard to tell who did unsigned work. Here's a few cool ones I posted a while back
  22. I agree that, especially her cheeks and jaw look a little harder than Darcy's soft, elegant lines (could be from the beatings she got on Sin Street ) Bt seriously, as my pal Ruben DaCollector always reminds me, these guys were working under deadlines for small pay and the quality of their work varied widely depending on how much time they had to work on them (or how much the art director overpainted their work to please the publisher) Still this is an uncredited painting for sure - but in a similar somewhat loose brush technique (that I think they pretty much all got from Barye Phillips, the master of making incredible outlines out of a few squiggly lines)
