The Haunted Hotel and Twenty-Five Other Ghost Stories by Wilkie Collins and others Avon NN #6 1941 Later print with HRN 80 (about 1946) $30 SOLD to N e r V Ghost and horror collection with Poe, de Maupassant and others. Tough to find any printing with a decent front cover Fine/Fine plus. Square and tight, Light reader crease and a few other light creases.

Virtuous Girl by Maxwell Bodenheim Avon 168 1948 $30 Killer early nipple cover by Raymond Johnson. One of the first to fill an entire cover. Fine Minus/Fine. Spine is solid and pages tight but slightly uneven. Covers are smooth with minimal creasing. Edgewear to spine and worn at the spine tips. A nice front.

Gonna start up a nice little stack of Golden Age Avons I have on my desk here. Avons really do epitomize vintage pb's in my book Carlotta by Robert Briffault Avon No. 250 1950 $30 SOLD to mstrange Classic Raymond Johnson Headlights cover, a scarcer one. It was re-used later by Avon on the cover of the comic book Intimate Confessions No. 3 Fine. Square tight and bright, has reader crease and a bit of light creasing and wear. A nice looking classic.

I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a small collection of very high grade Pyramids recently. All unread with perfect spines and just a dimple here and there. They are pretty stunning in hand. "Love Camp" is the nicest copy I've ever seen, which is why I put my undercopy up in the board sale this week. I may put a few more up. They are such nice little productions with art by the likes of Julian Paul, Victor Olson, Lou Kimmel and Frank Cozzarelli. I know, I know, I always gush about my love affair with Pyramids Here's a few highlights:

Play Now... Kill Later by Carter Brown Signet D2906 First Edition, First Printing May 1966 $25 SOLD to crassus Another glorious Good Girl stretching cover by Robert McGinnis Very Fine Plus. Square binding, razor sharp corners. Great colors and gloss. A couple tiny code marks in pen inside. About as good as it gets, a near perfect copy.

Very Fine/Very Fine Plus. Square binding, razor sharp corners. Great colors and gloss. Has a super thin line on back cover, looks like a color skip or a trace of ink from another book. A couple tiny code marks in pen inside. Real nice looker.

The Queen's Gambit Walter Tevis Dell 0-440-17183-0 1st US PB Edition 1983 $60 SOLD to N e r V Very tough 1st US PB of a story to be treasured. Far rarer than the hardback 1st edition to begin with and not to be found since the Netflix mini series blew up world wide. VF minus/VF Square, tight and new looking without creasing, a bit worn at bottom cover and light handling wear to covers. Inside covers toned.

The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis Gold Medal Books k1276 1963 PBO, 1st Edition $60 SOLD to N e r V Nice copy of an increasingly tough 1st edition PB by one of the greatest writers of the 20th century (my opinion!) Cover by Diane Dillon and Leo Dillon VF minus, has a small chip at base of spine and a white line at right side, super glossy with some light surface disturbance. A tough black cover.

Galaxy Science Fiction ed. H. L. Gold Volume 1, No. 5 February 1951 $150 SOLD to goldust40 Contains "The Fireman" by Ray Bradbury. The 1st appearance of what would become Fahrenheit 451 and it's on the cover. Sweet cover art by Chesley Bonestell These are getting squirreled away in long term pulp collections and drying up in the market. Fine Plus, Glossy and square, light reading crease and has a small split at base of spine. A nice copy with no ugly creases on the image.

The Amboy Dukes by Irving Shulman Avon 169 1948 $35 SOLD to goldust40 Early Avon Juvenile Delinquency novel. One of several variant covers, this one with the Brooklyn Bridge and purple coloring. Gorgeous GGA from the Ann Cantor Studio VF minus/VF Square and tight, a light crease that doesn't break color. Pretty copy.
