  1. In the 50's by most accounts that I recall, $200-300 was an average for well known guys, cheap was $100-150.
  2. Closing this sale. It was engaging as usual and I appreciate having such good sportsmanship out here I'll work out invoices tomorrow.
  3. I do like the second Lion Edition of Candide, may have to re-acquire it at some point. Here's a close up of the first. The cover art is un-credited but the girls face looks a LOT like a Rafael DeSoto girl. I read this in high school too and loved it, since half the book was chasing maidens around in the bushes, which was always a fun, irreverent thing to actually be able to talk about in class
  4. I'm pretty sure the reason many of the early pb publishers produced many Eurpoean "classics" was due to them being out of copyright, or cheap to get the rights to, and were kind of guaranteed product/sales since they were well known as classic literature to the generation consuming them. I like Zola.... it seems to me every French classic is imbued with fate, impossible coincidence and vengeance
  5. Well it's been great sharing my "horror-ble" (ugh, groan ) duplicates, odds an ends with y'all. You paperback collectors are really the best (and savviest) players on these here boards I updated the Recap page and anything on there is 20% off until the close of sale tonight. Feel free to make offers if that's close but not close enough
