  1. i ended up jumping on 2 of them.. the cover is just bad . Yep, and someone just snagged 20 of them. Yikes. Someone is planning on going nutso with these scalping and reselling. for $13.99 each geez and now black and white cover was released? I dunno, the b/w variants just don't do it for me. I know they go for a premium but for almost every b/w variant I see, I just like the "completed" versions with inks better.

  4. My wallet has officially started crying.......man that will be an expensive week Move over JSC variant - you just got demoted to second fiddle. That one is a monster!
  5. ....NO DEAL! Seller posts FOUR pictures and STILL can't get show the left front cover corner!?? That's it! I was SO ready to pull the trigger on this one but - no way. Who knows WHAT condition that left front cover corner looks like!? As tempting as it is..... I'm just going to have to let this one slide by.
  6. Well, looks like someone's going for broke: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-STAR-WARS-1-Hot-Topic-Variant-Cover-Comic-New-Sealed-NM-/321656814201?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae43d7a79
  7. Only if you're a buyer or seller. Otherwise, its pretty entertaining. Yep. This train went from 0-100-trainwreck so fast that trying jump aboard would be like trying to catch a falling knife. So instead......
  8. Save some for all the folks that paid $200+: Star Wars #1 Hot Topic, Sold Listings ETA: And pop a cork for the guys who were quick enough to make a killing on these too!
  9. That's because it is not recalled. It is delayed despite some here would have you believe. who the heck knows anymore.. the whole thing is so absurd.. iev heard people saying that this hottpic malarkey is the next 35 cent star wars  People forget that - this book had a million variants and I wouldnt be surprised that even if its recalled the print run of that variant will prolly be higher than some other variants of the same book.. Theres just too damn many Well IH324 is picking up steam on the bay probably because of this too. A few weeks ago, it was selling $8-10 tops. Last few days they've been going for $30-40+ or more. Has there been any definitive statement about whether the Hot Topics that are being "recalled" are indeed actually being destroyed - or just stored for later distribution?
  10. Hello! I've been on the board a few months, dipped my toes in a few others around the internets and found this one to be the most informative, so... thanks! As a kid I grew up a major DC fan, really liked Tarzan, Korak, Kamandi, (I was a bit of an "excitable" boy and always related to the untamed side of those characters). Also liked Batman and Superman, but since everyone else also did, I used my Batman and Sup books as barter to acquire more Tarzans etc. which weren't as popular. So.... I never really acquired or held much Batman or Sups for very long. Then I grew up and stashed all my comics... which most of them then got lost/tossed. BUT.... I did find a stash of late Silver/Bronze Marvels that I never really appreciated as a kid and so that got me restarted in comics focusing on Marvel now. So I restarted my interest in comics as my son also started becoming interested, and I found I don't relate to the DC world as much anymore, but the Marvel world is my realm now! So most of my WELL-read DC books are pretty much garbage, but I'm taking my core of Silver/Bronze Marvels and starting to rebuild/retool my collection and am REAL excited about the Marvel Universe and so now I focus mainly Silver/Bronze Marvels. I am also using some of those to now acquire SS slabs for them too! Anyhoot... Glad to find this board, I met a couple of boardies at recent cons last year and am really digging this forum. I'm learning a lot, and being amused a lot too! Some of you guys are a hoot!
  11. Picked up this at the LCS for $0.50 during Black Friday sales: And this also, $0.50.... If only it was the real thing! Each of these were also in the $0.50 bin: And got the full set 1-7 for $0.50 each (this was right before they announced the movie schedule): Timing, like condition, is everything.
  12. Picked this up a few months ago for $1.80 at one of those antique markets:
  13. That is a GREAT looking set-up you have. Oddly enough though, considering the awesome Iron-man collection you have, he is conspicuously absent from the Avengers figures on your Marshall amp! Very nice though.
  14. After seeing responses here, I emailed Anastasia's and they said they ARE doing Comikaze so that'll be good. Thanks for the feedback guys. It helps to kind of know how it's supposed to go, since that was my first time.
  15. Thanks mon! And it is his SA stuff that I'm getting done now. About half are my own personal SA choices, the other half are typical SA keys. Either way Ebay is definitely NOT chock full of most of what I want signed, other's irrelevant input notwithstanding. Thanks for the input!
  16. Noob 1st post: Part 1: My experience - Phoenix CC in June was my very first book-signing, and I got two books signed by Stan Lee. That was pretty much a cattle-processing experience - give his handler your book, he slides it to Stan, Stan signs it while another handler moves you along and then gives you your book back and then you go stand in line to fill out the paperwork for submitting them for CGC SS. The CGC-submissions were handled by Anastasia's Collectibles. After it was all said and done, I really hope I had done it the right way for a SS, but it seemed at least to me to be a bit disorganized and very rushed (obviously with a Stan-sized crowd they moved a LOT of people through). Anyway, it was really cool to see "The Man" in person for the first time, and to get his signatures on a couple of his books. Part 2: My concerns - A) Is this typical for a mega-signing like Stan Lee? I've never seen a SS signing before and hope I did it correctly - they did take my book and my forms and my money, so I hope I get back the yellow labels. B) I have several other books I want SS'd with Stan Lee and am hoping to go to Comikaze in October to get the rest of them signed and SS'd there. But I don't know if there'll be CGC SS submissions there or not. There's really not much info on the Comikaze site and no responses by emails. So... does anyone know if there'll be SS submissions at Comikaze this year? Thanks,
