  1. Well apart from my ankles and knees coping an absolute hammering from all the standing lining up at the Armageddon Expo (well over 5 hours worth), my wife and I finally managed to meet the lovely Courtney and Kevin Eastman for the first time!

We got some IDW #1 variants signed and bought a few limited edition posters. Unfortunately the bank account had already been drained with flights and travel costs to get to the convention from Brisbane (Queensland) so no original art was bought. He did have the odd piece of volume one there but mostly had more recent cover layout pages from the IDW series, which are still pretty cool. Even then I wasn't able to get any ... *sniff*

It was blast and although we hated the early wake up calls at 5am and sore legs from queues, we would do it all over again!

Pics to come soon which will include the rest of the collection since I've started.

  2. Sweet art and nice frame! :D

We got back a commission from Freddie E Williams II and a cel from the original animated series from the framers this week. Don't have time to photo and post at the moment but will post them (amongst other purchases) once we get back from the Armageddon Expo in Melbourne, Australia that's on Sunday (Mr. Eastman will be there!)

  3. That is an awesome set Archon and congrats on the bub!

I'll keep a look out for OA and thanks for the recommendations. Cons here aren't ares prolific as they are in the states so I'll probably need to keep an eye out on overseas sites and auction houses. As for volume 1 9.8s, I may be interested TMNT, although my funds at the moment are running a little low :(

That said, very shortly I'll be booking tickets to fly down to Melbourne for the Armageddon Expo this weekend, as Kevin will be attending Sunday! Still trying to work out what to take down to him, I may even just get him to do some sketches instead. No SS series here I'm afraid as CGC don't want to expand outside of the states (they're loss, big time). I don't know if/when Kevin will be out here again so I'm going to have to make the most of it!

  4. I reckon there might be a flood at the end as usual.

However it is a little strange that not a single bid is on it yet...

:gossip: the auction ended with no bids

Well, that's strange. I thought there would have been interest.

  5. I would buy it, but that $95 shipping fee...

How much is insurance to cover a $15K book?

USPS only insures packages up to $5,000. However, for your reference, $5K insurance on a Priority Mail package is currently $65.

My #1 1st print from the US was only insured on the slip for $100! :ohnoez:

Very glad it arrived safe and sound!

  6. These are freakin cool. You got the goodies Adam! That Dooney is sick. For me, if it's not Eastman or Laird, it's Dooney. I'm hoping to get another sketch from him next week!

I'm a bit taken with Freddie E Williams II's work myself.

My wife and I got a commission from him at the Brisbane Oz Comic Con and we absolutely love it! It's currently being framed as I type and I can't wait to take a picture of it to post here.

I'd love to see more turtle work done by Freddie in the future for IDW.

  7. I was thankfully surprised my estimate was incorrect.

Glad I hadn't entered any wager ... would have been throwing money away :tonofbricks:

Agreed on the CC scan, doesn't do the book justice.

Not to ignite the PQ debate again, but with a WP going for 7.3k and a OW/W going for under 8.3k and sold just over a month later, has the market swung that much for this CGC grade? (or any other 1st prints for that matter)

Hasn't movie hype died down or is the train still chugging along? hm

  8. Here's a picture that I was very excited to take. Recently, after several years, I was FINALLY able to get the complete set of the City at War storyline from TMNT all graded in 9.8! Here's the group shot:

Look at all those pretties!!! :D

That's a nice looking set - the City at War issues should probably have their own set IMO. I'm finding those issues hard to come by (let alone the rest of volume 1).

  9. Imagine shipping overseas from Canada/USA and hoping your package arrives safely internationally.

That's basically me every time getting things from EBay, Comiclink, etc. I'd love subsidiaries of CGC to be worldwide too, so Signature Series aren't just in the US and can get things slabbed nationally also (in Australia). Halo Certifications here have yet to respond to any of my enquiries ...
