  1. I really like much of the work being done on covers, as many people do obviously, and the level of talent across the board is impressive. I'm guilty of buying moderns just for the cover if I see one that stands out to me. And I'm a sucker for Parrillo covers no matter the subject. But at NYCC last weekend I walked by a table at one of the dealers that commissions covers and their entire table display was covers that amounted to nothing more than head shots of the various characters. Some of them were beautifully rendered, but when seen all together like that they became very mundane and boring. Of course there are plenty more covers being done that are dynamic, even if they don't necessarily depict something that's happening in the comic itself, but man was it a bummer to see all of those covers that were just heads. Boring ol' heads.
  2. I almost took this one, but really wanted some pre-code horror since I don't have any yet. Can't believe this lasted as long as it did!
  3. Yep let’s wait. Unless Toro appears...I’m getting antsy! One of my top pics is already gone! Aarrgggg!!!
  4. As long as someone has their lists, if they submitted one, seems fine by me. If someone submitted a list, but no one is able to check it, then we should wait.
  5. After all the takes earlier in the thread, there were still so many great mags left over. Amazing
  6. Here we go! how does the clock work if they didn't submit their list and aren't here?
  7. Guess I'll look at my prize list ranking a bit. I can't decided on my order of choices from #3 through about 10 , they are all good ones! I'll PM it to thirdgreenham if it looks like I wont be able to pick live, but for now I'm here.
  8. Tears definitely immediately put a ceiling on a books grade, depending on the length of the tear. Right off the bat. stupid tears.
  9. Man I was so close, but it always felt so far away! All in all I'm very happy with a 6th place finish. And no tie breakers to worry about Grats to everyone that finished the whole thing! And grats to the winner! Elrod picked a heck of a time to slacken off, ughh
  10. yeah I had the HoS at a fine or so before the stains on the back were taken into consideration, so went 5.5. I don't think it was a massive gift grade, but I was playing the odds in case it came back a 5.0. I totally blew it on the FF though with a 4.5. I didnt' look closely enough at the tear at the bottom staple on the spine, I guess.
