  1. Great book! With only 22 9.2s out there that was a great find. How long have you had it? I've been searching for years now to upgrade my 9.0 to a 9.2 but near impossible to find.
  2. You never really know but by the way it's been going I can see 9.2's hitting $10,000 at some point. I may be dreaming but it would be a nice starting point for a NM / NM- copy. Wolverine is possibly second only to spiderman in the Marvel Universe and this book has always been in demand to some degree . Also, in the CGC world the cover matters and it's an iconic comic book image . I remember a time a few years back when I had an option to buy a 9.2 for around $1600 Canadian and declined. Thankfully , I came to my senses and bought one a few months later and it's been on a rocket ride since.
  3. Roy, didn't you have one in high grade? I would like to replace mine with a 9.2 a some point but have been actively looking for almost 3 years with zero luck. With the number of Dare Devil collectors out there and the limited numbers I think the high grades have room to go . That's assuming people are willing to part with them.
  4. The cost was around $300 Canadian each after I upgraded the the glass, mats, etc. It's expensive but worth it to get exactly what I wanted. The total cost of framing for the 8 was around $2400 give or take . I have a few more done as well. I enjoyed selecting the colors and different textured mats for each. It takes up a great deal of wall space but I have a room dedicated to it.
  5. With only 76 graded 9.0 or higher blue universals on the census this is a scarce book when it comes to high grade. It's Dare Devil as we know him with the red costume. One of my favorite covers as well. Any other members out there willing to show their copy? Here's mine.
  6. Trust me I feel the same but near impossible to find a 9.2 for sale with only 23 on census. There are only 42 9.0's . Dare Devil is truly a scarce issue in high grade! I'm kind of surprised there hasn't really been any discussion about it.
  7. I've always viewed comics and their covers as art. I would say I bought these for their art as much as I did for the characters themselves believe it or not. I'm a big supporter of having them on display. If they can display a Van Gogh I thought I can do it with a Hulk 181.
  8. There has been a lot of discussion/debate around here about framing/displaying CGC comics so I though I would share my experience. All books have been up for years now with no fading. All are displayed in a room which is humidity controlled with no windows. The comics are behind UV masterpiece glass. Please keep in mind that I took these photos quick and you get some glare and reflection which is normally not there in person.
  9. With the first movie photos of Cable being released over the past few days I started to wonder a few things: 1) How high will the NM 87 9.8's go as the hype builds leading up to the movie? I'm going to guess $900 U.S. 2) Despite Deadpool being much more popular, will NM 98 and NM 87 have comparable values given the wide disparity in the census numbers (NM #98 9.8 = 2320 vs NM#87 9.8=1117) and a bit of the "Cable nostalgia" from those collectors who grew up on the Cable hype of the early 90s? 3) Transporting back to the days of buying both issues off the rack who ever would have thought NM#98 Deadpool would ever overtake NM #87Cable 20 plus years down the line? 4) Given those high census numbers and strong probability that many more in 9.8 condition are out there in the wild waiting, are both books really overvalued at present without much room for future growth ? Feel free to discuss. In the interests of full disclosure I've always been a bit of a Cable fan then and now; Deadpool not as much.
  10. It would be an outright sale. I'm going to see if mailing them would work best.
  11. I've decided that it's not really worth the risk in messing up my wife's vacation hahah. Unless Metropolis has a solution I might see if I can get a Canadian dealer to match their price to save the potential problems. I don't have to sell but as a collector of a few things I was willing to sink the $ into the other collection outside comics this go around.
  12. Thanks everyone ! I figured it wasn't as easy as packing them in a carry on bag. I'm going to discuss directly with Metropolis. Roy, when I was posting this I figured you would be the guy who would know and I was hoping you would post. I'm still regretting not buying your Hulk 181 9.2 about 6 years ago. I got cold feet then went back to look 2 weeks later and it was sold. I ended up buying another 9.2 which to me wasn't as nice . Andy, it was me that was in your shop last week while I was in London Ontario. For anyone reading this and in Canada, it is worth the stop to Forest City Coins in London Ontario . Great store and Andy is a very nice guy.
  13. Hello, anyone have any experience in bringing comics from Canada to the U.S for sale. Specifically, I plan to fly from Toronto to New York next week with a few books (8) in my carry on bag. It looks like I will be selling to Metropolis comics . The total value of the sale will be around $11,000 U.S. Once I get the check I will deposit in my Canadian bank while still in the U.S. Any special declarations or problems I should expect? Anyone have direct experience ? There has to be a Canadian dealer in here that would know. Thanks for the help.
  14. So I just got a notice that items on EBAY Canada will now be subjected to Provincial taxes which range between 7% and 15 %. I'm not sure about the rest of the Canadian buyers around here but on high priced books that's going to alter my buying habits. Is this really necessary ? Add in a 30-35 percent exchange rate and duty on top ; you end up paying higher than 50 percent to get a book out of the U.S ! Where does the madness stop ?
  15. I have books such as Hulk 181 9.2 custom framed . They have hung on my walls for years without any issues or fading. They are behind UV masterpiece glass and in a locked room without windows. As someone who sees the actual book as the artifact or artwork I'm happy with my decision. As someone with direct experience in doing this I can say if its done right there shouldnt be any issues. The Hulk 181 has been up there for about 8 years with zero damage. In fact I have a 9.2 Cap 100 and 9.2 Thor 126 getting framed this week. One of these days I'll uploade a few photos.
  16. It's been a tough month for this book see my post about the framing lady cracking open my 9.2 when it was left with her. I feel your pain but in my case insurance is fixing it up.
  17. Not turn turn this into another thread but I have hundreds of rack comics I bought as a kid in a small Canadian town that had both U.S and CAN prices listed along with a UPC code. They specifically have the CAN price below the U.S. price.Every single one of them does. You will also note that the direct edition of NM #87 on the left has $1.00 U.S and below it $1.25 Canadian. What does it need to be Canadian ? A single Canadian price? Thanks.
  18. I live in Canada , I bought it the day it came out from a store in Canada. That's Canadian enough for me.
  19. Thanks for the copy. I could not get it posted at all. It's amazing to see the difference in person ,so much so you would think it was some sort of reprint but it isn't .
  20. Interesting. The CGC 9.8 on the left is my graded U.S copy and the non CGC on the right is my original Canadian copy. Notice the stark difference in the orange vs pink background color. It is much more stinking in person as well.
