  1. Absolutely thrilled to get this late birthday present from #2 son Joe who is the VP of Superworld Comics so he often has access to some great stuff-- it's a WHIZ COMICS #51-- I've been looking for a copy of this one in nice shape-- one of my all time favorite covers! A device that takes ugly girls and makes them pretty! Amazing stuff and I can see why the good Captain was the best selling superhero of the Golden Age!
  2. It's my boy! Welcome to the boards-- you've got an amazing Golden Age Collection so you should have no excuse not to post!
  3. And more including one of my absolute favorite covers-- the Bugs Bunny sunlamp cover-- perfect for mid-winter here in the Northeast.
  4. Had a nice discovery going through and trying to begin the process of organizing my collection again, I'm adding the Overstreet App (I currently use CLZ) and pulled out a box I haven't visited in years and stumbled on a nice little lot.
  5. I post about 50% of what own. Don't see the need to let the world know all of the pieces I have.
  6. Updating my CAF Gallery so I thought I might post here too, since I'm a regular in the Golden Age Comics threads. First up, Bruno Seelig WOLVERINE. I love Bruno's style! If he was drawing mainstream comics today I'd be reading them.
  7. This one's a little more beat than I usually go with-- but I love the cover and the parts that are still there are great! And I think WITCHES TALES is my favorite PCH Title-- finally got a #1! Nice shape too.
  8. CAPTAIN MARVEL 48 - fun cover-- this is what I love about the character. That kids would want his autograph an Cap would oblige. Man I wish they did comics like this today. Gorgeous color on this big square bound 1952 Xmas Comic-- I'd never seen this before so I grabbed it.
  9. Those MASTER COMICS are great, and I've never seen this gem either-- great pickup!
  10. Colors seem to be the theme of this week's pickups for me.. first up another great title for me, WINGS this one #98 with some killer color and a killer croc! and an amazing VF copy of THE MARVEL FAMILY #48 -- a Fawcett title I really like. I might be odd in the world of comics collecting in that I buy solely for the cover, I don't care about completing runs or anything else. It's all about the covers for me.
  11. I went to one of his first shows and picked up a Mary Marvel #1, a Batman #44 and almost, ALMOST bought an Amazing Fantasy #15-- so there were a handful of good comics in the room. There were also sideshow performers, a LOT of vintage toys and tons of voice actors. That was probably eight or nine years ago-- so no idea if there are any exhibitors worth going for. Atomic Dimestore was the guy I bought the two golden age comics from, the AF #15 was a guy who had mostly toys which is what kept me from buying it.
  12. This was CaFLive #6 for us-- we've been in them all and each one has subsequently grown for us. This time around we kept our sales goal the same as last time rather than increasing it and we hit it to the penny. I also bought a few pieces and unlike previous years the seller(s) responded immediately and I already have some of the art in hand. CaFLive remains our favorite of the half dozen or so cons that we do, Bill is great and CAF has always had some great folks on it.
  13. A couple other quick Golden Age pickups to close out the week... I'd never seen the Anchors before- it's in very low grade but he threw it in for nothing-- the A&C and the Archie's are among my favorite titles from the era.
  14. This week's pickup includes FRANKIE #5- I love this Marvel rival to Archie-- LEADING COMICS #18-- the jive emperor with his saxophone, Marvel Family #82- striking colors on this one and TERRY AND THE PIRATES #26 with super gloss and a great cover!
  15. Yes it was FanX-- biggest crowds I've ever seen, and I've done SDCC and NYCC often, and I found some real Golden Age Gems cheap (posted some over on that thread).
  16. Baltimore is a good show, but it's not an "all comics" show-- the focus on Disney Princess' was pretty prominent. Heroes is still the best show of the year as far as I'm concerned, and to be honest I found a lot of great stuff at Salt Lake City, Chicago Fan Expo, C2E2, Rhode Island Comic Con and Little Giant in New Hampshire. It had a good art lineup-- I thought for about ten minutes about signing up for the Frank Miller package but figured it would be a nightmare. Then I ran into him at the Starbucks across the street from the show and got to catch up and have a nice chat.
  17. It was a pleasure talking to you at the Superworld booth-- always glad to meet a young guy who knows his stuff about classic comics. Great pics too!
  18. It actually looks more like Kirby/Simon in the Nazi's to me, but the Comics.org lists it as Schomburg? so who knows. I do know it has a killer Jerry Robinson story inside it.
  19. GREEN HORNET COMICS #15 - Alex Schomburg Nazi Ghost Ship nonsense at its best! Love this one.
  20. WALT DISNEY COMICS #9 - I love the blacks on this one-- heavy inks are my thing!
  21. Marvel Family #40-- another title I'm partial too. Great colors on this one.
