Terrors of the Jungle: I think most people interested will be aware of LB Cole, one of the premier comic cover artists. Fun fact: he used his daughter as the model for young lady in the leopard skin bikini. This copy's cover has bright, glossy colors and appeal that is largely unaffected by a variety minor structural defects. Census: 2 in 9.4, 1 in 8.0 and 3 in 7.5. F/VF with ow/w pages for $350.

Star Spangled 128: With the collapse of the superhero market, DC re-positioned Star Spangled to take advantage of the recent interest in pre-code horror. They created a new character, Dr. 13, to investigate ghostly and unexplained events and put the art in the capable hands of Leornard Starr. Prior to originating the syndicated strip Mary Worth, Starr honed his craft and delivered sophisticated illustration style comic art for different DC interior stories. Dr. 13 Ghostbreaker was his first chance to take center stage and he delivered the covers and lead stories until the series ended at issue 130. I don't know whether the art resonated with the typical young reader but there's much to admire and it's no surprise that he would be a successful artist for the more adult oriented fare of Mary Worth.
For those that like their comics with
boys in tightssuperheroes, there's a Robin story with him facing off against a low-rent Two Face.Census: 1 in 9.6 and 1 in 9.0. Despite being a black cover it has minimal wear with the main defect a small scuff near the top of the spine. Flat, tight with ow/w pages this VF/NM copy looks like a pedigree and is yours for $500.

Star Spangled War Stories 44 Salida Copy: This is a first for me in that I have never before offered a Salida for sale. The books from that collection were stored sealed in a Colorado mountain cabin, producing the freshest 50s comics I have ever seen. How fresh? A friend of mine was fanatical about white pages, owning comics coming from the best pedigrees. After seeing the Salidas he said, "There's white. There's snow white. And there's gut-wrenching Salida white."
I occasionally have guests visit to view my collection and talk comics and, in every case, they have been shocked by the colors, pages, gloss and fresh smell of these copies. When I first saw them in the 90s I actually opened them to the indicia to make sure they weren't recent reprints.
These books rarely come on the market as they are in the hands of "black hole" collectors who purchased them when they were first offered back in 1994. Salidas were all read by their owner prior to the sealing of the cabin so they generally have a little more wear than other pedigrees. This copy is among the best structurally I've seen from the collection and has the mind-boggling colors and page. Census: 1 in 9.4. This NM white is $1800.
Would you be so kind as to show interior pages? Now I'm DYING to see them. Thanks!

I think my emoticon would be different though.

A "Wow" from Gator is a ringing endorsement. I think in my short time I have been here that is the first time I have seen that on the Sales Forum.
Yeah. I mean nothing else to say to that book. Just impossibly beautiful. those pages are so white, it makes white pages from 1980 look offensively brown!

To show that I'm not a high grade snob, here's an entry level copy.
Fantastic 3: Lou Fine cover with a, pardon the pun, fantastic interior. The lead story involves the giant red robots pictured on the more famous Fant 3 and it contains two Fletcher Hanks classics. This 4.5 restored copy is available for $750.
3/4" tear seal bottom of spine, amateur glue
1/6" tear seal outside edge halfway down on front cover, amateur glue
Black CT at top of spine. Some bleed-through.

When ComCav arrives in your sales thread, you do not stop posting books!
Hahahah, no, no it's ok, really. I could use a break! Like, for 60 days, how about no one sell anything good so we all catch up on Berk bills, k? Yeah, that will never work...
