  1. Doc Joe - also, you know, you CAN stay away from the thread if you want. You are not involved in the transaction. My concern is with the seller, and in the unfortunate event he flipped it for a higher price after agreeing to sell to me, the final buyer. I do thank you for your time in participating in this spirited debate, but otherwise, don't feel compelled to play devil's advocate if it is causing you stress.

  2. Doc Joe - " this may break the code of the ocean but this deal is nothing to do with any of us except those involved." Yep. I'm involved. I'm, crying foul. You have a different opinion, thanks for sharing, but apples and oranges with your analogy. The concern here is what is the status of the book? Does he have it in his hands? Perhaps he can provide a photo in front of a website from today to show current ownership.

  3. To be clear, I DID pay the $15 in shipping, even though he stated he would cover the shipping. Also, I think pretty clearly I've shown this isn't about the money to me. It was never an issue in the transaction, it never came up until one his posts yesterday. There was zero debate, the price was asked, I agreed. He confirmed acceptance, he provided his address via PM as further confirmation of the deal. I sent a check.

  4. Jimbo_707 - "For the record, I would never cash someone's check and not ship a book." Good to know you do have SOME ethical boundaries.

"Also, if ghosting means abandining the boards, I obviously haven't ghosted." No, I was saying you refuse all PMs and that means you ghosted. I see you still do not allow PMs. How does anyone who is not hiding act like that?

"I also haven't sold the book." By any ethical, decent, civil, and legal code of conduct, you have. Now you may not deliver the book, but I don't think there is a single person here who does not think a transaction has occurred whereby you sold me the book.

Did you get a better offer after the sale and that is what made you feel like it was worth more? Your actions have been super-shady and it sounds like your reason is simply what we all feared.

  5. Jimbo_707 (good Mr James Bowman) -Your check #17073 for $815.00 should be there shortly (see, including the shipping). Normally I would PM this info, but as you appeared to have turned that option off, I send it to you here. Deal honored in full, with shipping paid, even when you offered to cover it. Because my generosity knows no limits and I didn't want you to feel like even one penny was left on the table.

  6. Doc Joe - Thanks for your opinion and weighing in on the matter. No doubt, he really honked me off and my PM to him could be seen as aggressive. First thing in the AM after a long night, etc, but I do not believe any aspect of my conduct is unbecoming and hence why I posted EXACTLY what I sent him publicly. I stand by my reputation. This is about being an ethical seller and doing the right thing.

Yep, we've all had bad transactions. Every-so-often you have to stand up for what is right, or the cycle continues.

My apologies for the amount of time this is wasting for everyone. Trust me, I have zero fiscal upside in investing this much effort into a sale we can pretty safely say I am not going to get.

I have made loads of friends here and it is a safe space. So I want to defend that.
