  1. I haven't read StarLord's first comic appearance. I have his first appearance in the Marvel Premiere, and it's a pretty good read. Much different type of character than whats been portrayed recently... cool glimpse into his origin as well. Maybe Rocket's first comic appearance is higher than Starlord's is because its in a Hulk comic? Popularity of the character? Difference in print run between the two? Not really sure otherwise... because his first comic appearance is like his 10th appearance overall? Crazy talk
  2. Well, except for those of us who think it should be... Marvel Preview 7 - 'First Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' Summer 1976 IH 271 - 'Second Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' May 1982 My point is Marvel Preview #7 is the first appearance, although a magazine. Some people pimp IH #271 as the first comic book appearance of Rocket Raccoon (with a cover appearance). However, MP #7 is more valuable. Yet Marvel Super Special #16 (magazine) is the first appearance of Boba Fett, but Star wars #42 is more valuable. The same logic does not apply. Yes, the market will decide, but sometimes the "rules" are as clear cut as you think. This surprises you why? Logic in our hobby is a purple unicorn... I was being sarcastic - it's not consistent at all. It's just something the collective public has drifted towards. FWIW, thats what's called out on the CGC tags for these books. So was I (thumbs u The inconsistency is frustrating some times, but livetoplayanotherday... ...and technically, in that magazine he's 'Rocky Raccoon'... Not 'Rocket.' So... I don't know what that means.

  6. Taking my initial entry from raw to graded... exactly what I thought it would end up being. I'll take it!
  7. Great books, folks! Got a handful back in. Still waiting on another 10 books or so... will post as they trickle in at a glacial pace from CGC. 3 of these back graded the same: If you can see past the camera glare...
  8. Definitely missing some cyan and black in that example on the right. Surprised there's that big of a mismatch...
  9. +1 That ASM #189 almost looks out of place with this haul Haha... No doubt! Was in great shape though... Couldn't pass it up. Have always loved the cover...
  10. Was lucky enough to find a first print MGN4 at one of my LCS's yesterday... $10 for a VF. Guess I beat all of the other nerds to it.
  11. Just a bunch of funny books. Seriously - great find! That's one of the things I love about this thread that I created. You never know who is going to find what and where they will find it. It's one big treasure hunt. (thumbs u Absolutely... They're just fun to read for me. The thrill is in the chase... Opening the old, dusty long boxes... Carefully pulling apart the decades old poly bags... Smell of old newsprint... ... and encasing them in fresh mylar and full backs
  12. Ex collector - we worked out a good price. Some of these are upgrades for me... Good stuff. Lucky.
  13. Picked up a few books today... I don't know... is this stuff any good?
  14. I haven't looked at it yet, but isn't this issue a bit thinner than #1? I know it was impossible to find a #1 without a bit of a bindery tear. I'll bet there are #2's out there without tears... I'll take a closer look at mine later.
  15. Nabbed a Wolverine in great shape today... $6.99, but I had my pick of the litter. Looks cool!
  16. Midtown did this, too. Dragons Lair San Antonio. Dragons Lair, Austin!
  17. Thats cool! I picked up the black Spidey today. Looks great
  18. - I actually like that Joker cover Hmm...worst cover. I would say anything Leifeld.
