  1. Muy bueno. Especially the St. John spider (I think). 🤔 this bedsheet just in from a board purchase. Fits in nicely.
  2. Just received this beauty from another sales thread run by Pat. Happy to see its bedsheet size. Fits in nicely. Thanks.
  3. Do any of you historians know why Gaines didn’t have file copies of Modern Love? Im guessing the title predates when he began salting them away.
  4. I feel like it’s an auction deluge that I have an hard time keeping up with. Truthfully unless the auction has AMans, Archie’s or early Tecs they’re crraap.
  5. Great problem to have and one I’ve thought about for decades. The answer to your question really lies within. Meaning how much of the sale proceeds do you want to share and, realistically, how hard do you want to work? Looking just at what’s in frames would probably pay for a good chunk of the rest of the books grading costs and selling yourself is easy enough but it’s still work. Consigning a large group of slabs to a big seller would be pretty easy also and certainly less time consuming. The grading process itself can be a slog and an auction house might be able to make that process easier.
  6. Not an easy thing to police. As proof, in this very thread the two earlier covers both contain imagery at least as “explicit “ as the one being discussed. The first shows a rudimentary figure showing what is being covered up on the Frazetta cover. I guess so badly drawn that our prurient instincts aren’t stirred. The second is even more troubling. Obvious jail bait exposing man’s inability to control himself. Yet because Frazetta’s beautifully executed figure stirs such emotion that’s the one we discuss. Pornography, I know it when I see it.
  7. That 124 sale seems like a big number to me although it’s about $2000 less than the one 9.8 sale in 2022 that GPA shows.
  8. It must be the rust and tear on the back cover that explains the grades? 😂
  9. I’d say the grading is arbitrary and capricious but that doesn’t jibe when your books are always the bridesmaids?
  10. Watched both episodes and I’m really enjoying it.
  11. Might as well. Take please. Cool label. I have a bunch of his file crime does not pay copies that sold at Sotheby’s in the day.
  12. Thanks. Clicked on your link after my post and figured that.
  13. Very cool. Hope you don’t mind a few questions. Were you satisfied with the grades and process? Care to share what the average price of slabbing all in is? Do they take up an ungainly amount of space? Are any of those books worth more than a $1000 in your estimation? Thanks for sharing.
  14. Very sad. A giant in our hobby. Looks like a nice fishing trip with no shortage of Northern Pike.
  15. Probably my favorite cover by Neal that doesn’t have Batman in it.
  16. Heavy ease on poor Paste Pot’s first appearance in Strange Tales 110. My purchase of a 4.5 in the summer of 2022 was ill advised as prices are about 1/2 now. Grandpa said you can’t make up for a loss with volume.
