  1. .....you sold the book for $4500? ....wow, its not just supa that did you a favour......those guys at cgc should get some credit too for giving it a 9.8................
  2. "Marvel Team Up #1 and Hero for Hire #1 I've watched these 2 books in particular for the past 3 years. Only saw (3-4) 9.2's of MTU #1 and (2) 9.4's of which I bought both." .............are you trying to collect every cgc copy of MTU #1 and hero for hire #1.............? ............no wonder i can't find any..................
  3. "look for an X-Men #94, GS X-men #1 or a Hulk #181 to invest in." ...........all these books have reached a value that prohibits investment......if you bought any in the late 80's then that would have been a good investment...............
  4. ...i'd go for........ MTU 1 Defenders 1 Marvel Feature 1 ...........the others you mentioned are fairly common in high grade........ ...as ricky mentioned the MTU #1 is particularly hard to find because of the dark cover.....
  5. .......any book published before the days of 'political correctness' is bound to spring up something now considered unpublishable................... .......or more likely subject of a libel case.......... .........which i don't think is a neccessarily good thing.........
  6. ...i agree that 49 & 50 are great covers, but so in my humble opinion is 48...........three of the all-time classics of the kirby ff era...........
  7. "While Galactus and Silver Surfer were introduced in 48, there is no sign of them on a farily pedestrian cover...." ...are you serious?....ff #48 a pedestrian cover?........... .....i think it is one of kirby's great covers, the watcher and the ff looking up to the heavens.....at what?...........the suspense and tension is right there in the cover and it makes you open it up to see what is happening........... ...its a cover that draws the reader into the book..............sometimes less is more...............
  8. ...much better than the lameo mcfarlane cover on ASM #300.............
  9. .........but #238 has that great cover of the hobgoblin ripping spidey's costume in half................ .....one of the best new villain debut covers ever..............
  10. "I would say that cover price change '69-'70 is when bronze age started... Yes?? NO??? " .....if you started a new age every time there was a price hike, there'd be more category's on this board than poster's...................
  11. "..........then I suggest picking up every Marvel Comic starting with Conan #1 and then reading chronologically forward." .......now that's a task for the SERIOUS bronze age collector.................
  12. ..i hope not, as that may mean that i can't afford them anymore.....................
  13. .........hopefully, there are also still collectors out there who like nice looking books (some fine+ books have great eye appeal), with no major defects..........who don't get too caught up with owning the 'perfect copy'...........
  14. hey, you could always crack that slab open if you REALLY want to read it....................
  15. i was wondering about this.......... obviously there is a large collector/speculator market for high-grade silver age, and many people buy low-grade 'reading copies' of otherwise expensive silver age books...... but where is the market for the mid-grade stuff? i personally would buy a fine copy of a book if it had good 'eye appeal'......... do any of you guys buy mid-grade silver, if so what is your motivation?
