<p>Does not an inquiring mind wonder how something might exist if it was citied
as being destroyed 30 years before its creation?<br>
<br>
From the article:<br>
<br>
"Stan has been editor of Marvel Comics since he was 17 and
Marvel was called Timely, over 30 years ago. He used to have a collection of all
the comics he had ever put out, a collection that would be worth quite a lot of
money now. He had it stashed in the cellar of the house he used to have in
Hewlitt, Long Island. But one day he went down to look through some old issues
and found that the whole collection was ruined. It had gotten wet from a leak
through the walls, and the books were all mildewed, and crumbled in his hands at
the touch."</font></p>
Good catch!
When the Stan Lee file copies first came up for sale on Heritage with all of their associated hype, I also questioned their true history. I also remembered this same story, except I thought I had read it in a copy of CBG sometime in the 1980's.
Maybe Stan or Heritage could provide us with a better or more accurate background on these so-called "file copies".
Hmm, hadn't heard that story before. Could shed a whole new light on the autheticity of the collection.

What the heck are these and how do they come up for sale? I mean, does Stan "the man" sell his books? Is he that desparate for money??
They originally went on sale about three years ago now. Might have been a bit more or less, memory is fuzzy. Stan basically put up all his supposed 'file copy' books (yeah right like he ever refered back to anything ) for sale in one big auction. All the books were signed by Stan himself and certified by CGC. The books were in a variety of grades as I recall, but mostly mid to low.
The books that have been sold subsequently, have presumably been done so by the new owners.

Kudos to skinny_white_boy for some very nice raw books. Great stuff Josh. Many thanks.

Danny Miki is also one of the early Image artists and has worked with Liefeld a lot. A Liefeld clone you might say...
I would most certainly not say......
Danny is one of the premier inkers working. Did you happen to see the Quesada covers to Wolverine Origins?...the inks are friggin wonderful. If Liefeld had an inker as good as Miki is now, he would not be mocked.
I have some Miki inked pieces and the last thing in the world I think of is Liefeld.
Chris
Maybe I was being a little harsh, as I have not seen much of his more recent work. He certainly started out very much in the Liefeld vien though. Glad to hear he has uped his game.

Who inks Finch on Moon Knight?
Danny Miki, who inked his stuff on Avengers and New Avengers

That Bolland Commission I had done at the end of 2005 really stuck with me as a general idea so I turned it into a theme of commissions....here is the latest.
Red Skull's Trophy Wall...David Michael Beck
I posted this to my CAF last night but want to show it to my CGC board friends.
This came from David Michael Beck through Scott at Catskill comics. Both of them were great to deal with and the piece blows me away.
To see the others in the theme you can look on my CAF or at my Web Site
So far the theme has been fun and the artists have done beyond all my expectations.
Best,
Chris Caira
Great stuff Chris! I particularly like the perspective on this one, very dramatic.
I can't wait to see who's next!

Just to add, if anyone is thinking of buying books from october I would do so in a second. Tight grading, fast shipping and a great guy!
Just stay away from those Adams DC's.

Further kudos to october for another bunch of great books.
